    Default no one trades, ey?

hey, I am in a middle game chobuske, and I am having a hard time finding trading partners. I got 2, one vassal and one friendly clan. there are about 10 clans left, yet 4-6 dont have ANY trade agreements EVEN THOUGH they could. even the smallest clan, which would desperatly need money, has no interest in trade. why is that? If they dont want to trade with me cause they dont like me thats fine, but so many are not trading at ALL! weird!

Trade partners aren't the only people you trade with. They just have certain extra rights when trading with you.

As I get more powerful I am slowly losing trade partners as the Shimazu. Whether it's because I converted to Christianity or they're losing ports, I don't know.

i have noticed this too. even weak friendly clans with 0 trade partners and the ability to trade refuse to trade with me without a stupidly large tribute from me, and they usually break the agreement after 2-3 turns which I get penalised for :/

Get yourself a couple of trade nodes. Even if you have no trade partners you will make money. In the trade tab you will see revenue from unsold trade goods. In my end game I made 15K from trade and 50% of that was from unsold goods.

I dont use the tradenodes. It's like legitimate cheating, since I;ve never seen any AI actively using or defending them. At the most, I have to kick someone off a tradenode when I get to one.

I think it;s because the AI runs out of ports somehow.

As Takeda, for example, I have anbout 8 tradepartners on avarage for the better part of the early game.

If you don't rush the AI will use trade notes. It will atack them and defend them.

I've started a new campaign as chosokabe either and experienced exactly the same problem. So I focused on Chi and researched the techs which give a bonus to diplomatic relations. So I was able to get at least a alliance and three trade partners.

I had the same problem with Chosokabe, even with good diplomatic relations. Clans that were 'very friendly' would still end up with 'low' probability of trade agreements, regardless of how many trade nodes I had (tried with 1, 2, and 4). This was on normal.

Tokugawa and Uesugi did not have the same problem. Trade agreements all around, even with clans that didn't like me.

It might just be a Chosokabe thing. Playing as them I only have one trade partner that isn't a vasal. There are a number of other clans that have the capasity for trade but they won't play ball with me. Maybe the Chosokabe smell or something.

As for trade nodes, the AI will take, hold and defend them quite fiercely. I only managed to secure one for myself after an opertune pirate attack chaised off another clan.

So far i tried Takeda, Oda, Chosokabe and Shimuza.

Takeda and Oda can easily has a lot of trade partners.

however, in my Chosokabe and Shimuza game. Just like everyone else here. The max i can have is like 1 or max 2 trade partners and thats it. It really suxs.

Why is that so? even when try to link my Shimuza island to the mainland, i still can trade with all of them. Its annoying.

I found it pretty easy to trade as Uesegi, which is one of their strengths, slightly more difficult as Date, though.

Uesigi, everyone wants to trade, as Shimazu, no one does.

My impression so far is that when you become rich , the AI is less willing to trade with you because it doesn't want you to increase the wealth gap . Basically , the AI really wants to keep up with you both in income and amount of territories .

Shimazu is another example because they sit next to the trade nodes , so the AI is reluctant to trade with you because each trade agreement can bring you a lot of extra money depending the amount of active trade ships you have . I had it easier to gain trade agreement with clans far from trade nodes , or before i got rich

I take that as a cheat or something to prevent us from getting rich. IN the first place, other warlord should not know how rich i am or income i can net per turn.

The system make them auto-detect your wealth and do the necessary action to stop trading with you! Annoying i must say.

I have taken the 3 trade nodes to the west at the beginning of may game and have not been attacked once 90 turns later... this is a bit of a bug as my enemies do have large fleets. I am Shimazu and still able to create trade agreements failry easily the key is to have high honour and a trusted reputation from your dealings with other clans. The odd 000's payments also help.

I've had allies demand I break off trade with other mutual allies in order to broker a trade agreement.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong (I think I'm going off a subconscious feeling), but the Japanese of the time seem big on honour, whatever that is.

So if all three of our daimyos have maximum honour, and we're all best friends for life, what is my allies problem with me trading with both he and our mutual ally?

Maybe its an issue of 'you trade with both of us, I gain less then if you trade with just me.'

But that's invalid. Its all in the alliance, right?
