Default Multplayer Campaigns - what's going wrong?

My friend and I have been sorta playing the MP campaign yesterday for 2-3 hours, but it didn't work through the normal servers. Every time I sent him and invite, he would get the "Game not found" error and vice versa if I tried to join his game. Then we tried it through tunngle and while we could play, it was pretty laggy for whatever reason (We always have a 60-90 ping in other games to each other) and kept going out of sync or getting stuck, etc, to the point where it just wasn't enjoyable.

Today we tried to see if Hamachi had better speeds, but that didn't work at all (usually does with other games) and nothing I tried made the official TW servers work, like, nothing at all.

Question being, is it just not connecting us 2 because he is in Hungary atm and I'm in Germany? Like seriously, is there any tricks, tips, anything? From the little we played it was great fun, but I can't picture myself playing 100-200 turns like this.

I suppose you know already, but for completeness' sake only invite through the ingame function, not the steam function.

Then both take the same server in steam, restart everything.

Do you have UnityMedia? If so, log into your hardware firewall, if there is one, and take a look.

Another hint would be to try it with your antivirus/firewall scanners being off.

Once one of you has hosted, this guy shall not host another game until you have restarted Shogun once.

Try putting both games into English language too. (I know sounds silly but different languages especially the hungarian one require coding so something might have gone wrong, you never know for sure!)

    Good luck

    Thanks for your reply!

Steam server, what do you mean by that? We tried inviting via game invite but it goes nowhere, sadly, in the lobby, I can only see people from Germany I guess, some keep making rooms like "Deutsch", etc, and I can never see him in my public lobby, only in the Clan one. Both game versions are also English, so that isn't an issue. With the hosting thing you said last, do you mean, once you hosted a game and it desyncs for example, both have to restart Shogun?

UnityMedia is a provider I see, no I don't have it, I got Alice with a netgear router, which USUALLY isn't a problem, tried turning off the internal firewall of it too yesterday, didn't help, sadly.

Edit: Got it to work by setting the Steam Download servers in the settings to the same spot, me and my friend I mean, I think that's what you meant. Thanks.
