    Default Drop in battles

Ok, I must have missed something.

Here I am playing along on my campaign, and sometimes I want a drop in, but quite often I don't. Basically it is either because the battles would be too lopsided (1000 troops vs 2 units is not fun for anyone) or the battles are too critical. Losing an entire campaign due to one loss is not something most people like. But the odd battle does happen that would be nice to see a player handle.

However, I do want to be the drop in person myself. But I don't really know when/where/how to do that. Do I have to sit in the MP lobby searching, or can I be pulled in while playing my own campaign. If the only the first, then I it's just not very fun for me, and I likely won't do it.

So basically, could someone spill it for me?

You can be a "drop-in" by only ticking that off when selecting criteria for match-making in the Avatar conquest - then it's just a matter of pressing search and hope someone is currently waiting for a drop-in in their campaign. I've played one batle as the drop-in myself but I don't think your avatar gets any experience for winning - at least I didn't get any when I won the battle.
    Coming soon.

Ah, thanks. So there is no way to play the SP campaign as well? Meaning I have to be dedicated to playing as a drop in... Well that's pretty cumbersome. All I wanted was to spice things up a bit while doing my own stuff, I don't really want to sit around waiting for it. Then I might as well play MP for real and get something for it.

No I think you can also get a notification "there is a drop-in available, do you want to join?" during your SP campaign, there was one in NTW.
    It was quite rare though.

I've played some drop in battles and that was pretty easy, only had to wait for about 20-30 seconds for an opponent. So by all means spice it up a bit and play some drop ins. I would love to get notifications in my SP games so I could do some drop ins though

But that was the thing. If I just wanted to play battles against other players, I would play normal MP. So for me at least, going to the lobby and searching for drop ins is sort of pointless to me. What I want is exactly what was in NTW as daniu mentions. But that hasn't happened (despite me ticking the drop in feature, but that seems to be for drop ins in my game).

Drop in battles need to give XP tbh.

    Why would they?
    The avatar isn't even present.

I think he means for it to be more popular. I can go with that. In fact I thought it did.
But I think it would simply be better if drop in could be selected as a feature in the SP campaign.

"Yes I want to offer my services in drop in battles" ticked

I don't know about everyone, but my previous encounters in MP has been that most MPers are in it for the victory (yes yes, I know it is for the fun, but below that), while many SPers take a lot of pride in wounding the enemy. As such one who prefers MP might not be terribly inclined to do a lopsided battle at all, while one that prefers SP might see it as an opportunity to hurt the other player more than he anticipated, perhaps enough to disrupt future operations.

Of course that is just my personal experience, so no need to get upset if my word don't exactly ring true.

It is. If you allow drop-in battles, you'll get invited to other people's battles too.
The problem is not that there aren't people wanting to drop into campaign battles, there aren't enough campaign battles to drop into.
