Default How would you handle this.

Basically I got East Osgiliath under siege by morder,in their half stack is two of the armoured trolls units and one lot of mountain trolls.
I have two archer militia,Boromir, two spear units and one cavalry militia.

    What do I do?

lol okay this siege defense will be tough,

You can try bringing in reinforcements to fight the besieging army... but... you must win or else everyone in the city dies. Yeah I don't get why either.

Or if you really want to try defending, do this:
Use charge your cavalry militia out the gate and attack the ladder, siege tower, and ram. You don't have to route the units, just attack them so they drop their siege equipment. Run away and let your archers shoot the trolls. If they pick up the siege equipment again, charge them again to make them drop it.
Position your infantry in a column inside your gate, Boromir last of course. When they charge into your opened/broken gate time your countercharge so you meet the enemy inside the gateway arch. This is very crucial. If you charge too soon your men will run outside the gate and be slaughtered by orcs, trolls, and burning oil. If you charge too late they will all be inside the gate and have a foothold. But if you do it just right the enemy will clump together under the burning oil, and die by the hundreds. Just make sure your men are far enough behind the oil that they don't get burned.

Try that, and when the trolls charge through, just do your best to hold them with spearmen.

Or just save often so you can load an earlier save.

Well most of my forces are being retrained in minus tirith in preparation for a new push into mordor,I have aragorn and a few archers outside western osgiliath and a few militia units in the western city itself,so a relief army would need luck but I'll give the battle method a go.

I would say that give the city to Mordor via diplomat and then reconquer it with Boromir few turns later

lol! I don't know if it is some hidden mechanic in the game or some subconscious mechinasim from me knowing that this is suppose to happen but every time I play as Boromir, he gets killed very quickly and always by overwhelming odds.

    your dead

    sorry

    you could try:

a: loading a previous save state or

b: auto resolve and hope fot the best

c: use a cheat code that does insta win

only used it on dawrves personally, its not that I cat beat them, but even when they are outnumbered and outclassed they win every damn auto engagement and I find no fun in fighting them. literally a grind fest with them

yeah your army isnt strong enough to win alone...either bring reinforcements if you can or trade that city or cheat

What difficulty are you playing on? How did Mordor get Olog-hais and you only have E. Osgiliath? Just curious, because you really want at least Minith Ithil before they get that far.

Also yeah try the diplomat thing, though I'm doubtful because the AI often rejects settlement offers because they think you'll just retake it... which is exactly right in this case lol.

Try to pin them down at the gate and let the oil do its work. You'll lose anyway, i think, but you will decimate the enemy army so you can counterattack and take the city back. Hope the trolls just don't smash through your first line units, avoiding the oil-line.
It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

the best solution is to defend the plaza

Destroy their siege equipment (automatic victory) to win a few battles and last a few more turns, and send cavalry reinforcements asap.
