Default Shogun II- New hope for decent modding?

After embarrasment with Empire TW and Napoleon TW (when the whole TW community was cheated by greedy publishers) I hope this game Shogun TW II will be at last modding friendly. Modders made an outstanding job with their mods for MTW II, or RTW. With Empire and NTW publishers wanted to make lot of money and they locked up almost everything for modders and they released their own mods. Of course they wanted money for that (Despite the mods suck). If the Shogun TW II is not modding friendly, I´m not going to buy it. I hope creators/publishers came back to common senses and they will not repeat their greedy attitude with Shogun too. So my final question is. IS it, or IS it NOT moddig friendly?

Modders made an outstanding job with Empire and NTW too:

Have a look at Darthmod Ultimate Commander for Empire (it´s the reason I´m still playing this game, don´t bother with Vanilla), or for NTW there´s Order of war, Napoleon Empire Realism, TROM2 and a lot of other very good stuff.
I think I remember there´s even some progress in modding the map of this games, but I´m not shure.

You forgot THE GREAT WAR mod, with landships, big guns and all that

If map tools don't come, I doubt the Shogun modding will be bigger than the Napoleon and Empire one, as the map scale is smaller, too.

The thing is I have stopped playing Empire long time ago. That´s why I´m not very familiar with mods for these two games. (I never bought Napoleon as a matter of fact due to my protest against greedy publishers and their boycot of modders). But I dont think modders could fix the old bug with fortress walls (unable to fix them). If creators couldn ´t handle it, I dont think modders could with all the obstacles publishers made for modding.

Great war is a great mod, but its still got a long way to go before it'll truly capture WW1 tactics. Right now its just Napoleon with lots of guys. Still can't wait to see those trenches finally put in.

This. Have a look at my sig and click it to find out more on a great MP NTW mod (and SP mod, in the nearest future). I think for many at TWC the state of vanilla games is of relative importance as long as it is a good starting point for modding. Virtually all TW games (except for STW) were turned into great games by modders. S2TW demo was modded after a few days of its release (lol). In modders we trust!

I liked Shogun TW I. I loved MTW I. I admired Rome TW and I absolutely loved MTW II. I didn´t like Empire (I hated it) and I didn´t like Napoleon (I consider it only for poor trick from publishers to get my money). I have tried Shogun TW II demo and I felt nothing. (I still love MTW II with outstanding TATW mod). I cant explain why is that, but this demo did nothing to me. That´s why I´m not going to buy it unless modding tools are out. Because I hope someone can make a medieval mod from Europe with this new engine and that should be great. Will see then.

Maybe in Rome2:TW they will have a 'rethink' and when you load up the game each day there will be an option in the main-menu for mods! We can only hope.
If it had this feature alone (or was patched into Shogun2:TW now) the game would become a legendary game that people will talk about for decades to come!

The problem is they don't want to make a game that is talked about for decades to come. They want to make a game that is talked about a year or two, then they want us to buy the next TW game for 50 bucks.

No they have YOU buy the dangles.. I didn't buy anything after the ETW release.. I'm quite satisfied with M2 and all of its epic mods... The Rome mods are good too but I like the M2 Mods better.

And that is precisely why CA may be somewhat anti-mod. Any business needs to make money. And the computer games industry isn't known to be lucrative. I'm not saying I'm against mod tools, but I am saying that CA and SEGA do have a reason to hold back.

Or you could buy it because its a very fun game rather than complaining because you cant edit it. Just enjoy the freaking game No one cares if you make you own crappy little TC or something.

Nope ntw was the best TW by far at the time, with great advances in BAI and nice varied campaigns. I enjoyed it immensely.

No one from my friends liked it. Honestly. They say wasted money. Two weeks of fun and that´s it. It should be datadisk or expansion as someone has mentioned above. But they say no! Let´s get more money from them! Sale rate of NTW wasn´t very good and they put big hopes into Shogun II. But if Shogun will be full of bugs, unfinished product and they will not let the modders finish their job, they will bankrupt!

Hmm, I wonder whether it's because it plays differently to the other titles and you can't thrash the AI in a few minutes?
