    Icon7 Need some help/opinions on a clan...

So I started playing as Hattori when I first got the game, but that ended up not being my thing.

I really can't decide what clan to play as, since there are so many different ones! I don't want to get too far in and regret it for not having certain bonuses.

So many seem interesting to me, and I would appreciate your help and opinions on the matter!

    Looking forward to your replies.

All of them!!! Except Hattori, I want to play Hattori only because I cannot. They are all interesting to play as, read a little about Sengoku Jidai period and some of the characters pretty much all of the clans have interesting characters so it is easy to get into playing as them. No period or location in history in my opinion had the pure strength of characters that this period has (or if they did they were written out of history). That's what makes it such a great setting and game!

Alright, I'll try one of them I suppose and see how it goes.

    Any other opinions though?

I wish I could help, but I can't; I'm in your boat, mate.
Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Give a man a fishing rod... and he'll break it up for firewood, or swap it for a fish.

Hehe, I love gaming; but I am constantly having issues with my indecisiveness. From WoW, to Shogun 2 I have trouble deciding 'what' to play.

Yes! I'm exactly the same. I can spend hours deliberating which faction to play on similar games - it's ridiculous.

I'm eager to see who you end up sticking with.

Shimazu is probably the best to first get into. Relatively safe at the beginning, near trade nodes, great bonuses.

I think that Hojo, Date, and Uesugi are all great starting clans. They have a nice position that gets you into contact (alliances or conflicts) with major players early on without the Shogun and his allies coming after you before you have time to prepare.

I found Shimazu and Chokosabe to be a rather slow campaign starting myself, but am going to give them a chance again soon and play with the whole Christianity vs. Shinto-Buddhism thing more than in my other campaigns.

Tokugawa, Takeda, and Oda look fun too but are kind of in a difficult position. Like I said before there is no clan I don't want to play so I can't help with indecisiveness. I tried Takeda first and had a failed campaign, then had a blast with Hojo taking my time and doing things right. Uesugi was also a lot of fun making full use of monks and battling a strong Takeda (which was also really cool just for the historical aspect).

Thank you guys for your opinions! I am playing Choso right now, but like others have said it is kind of a slow start... I may switch over and play Date.

Try the Date clan, bunch of fearless warriors, with a charge bonus, also they have cool no dato samurai's. Just imagine a 5ft tall katana slicing poor peasant ahigarus to bits.

I intend to write a beginners faction guide for those who can't seem to know where to start. But this here are for me the easiest to hardest.

    1)Shimazu
    2)Chokosabe
    3) Mori
    4) Hattori (but you're right they're not the faction I would start the game with, as exciting as they are)
    5)Hojo
    6)Date
    7) Takeda
    8)Uesugi
    9)Tokugawa
    10) Oda

Personally I would start with the Chokosabe, but they're not that exciting to some people, compared to the Shimazu.

I'm not quite sure about the Hojo and the Mori as I haven't explored them fully yet

Feel free to argue with me.
