Veterans

I have a question and the Game is too New to view on different sides so I ask the people here. The question: I have seen some guys who use for example the naginata guys as veterans, so how do I get these guys as veterans, because I tried it with the no dachis they killed 150 enemies and didn't updgraded does anyone know how to lvl them up?

Certain buildings give XP bonuses to newly made units.
It not about the number of enemies you kill but the quality of the men they kill.

Killing 40 horses will give you a lot more XP than killing 200 Ashigaru.
Also, if your unit suffers loses, the XP is distributed among the survivors and that way they'll gain XP faster.

Leveling is tediously slow.

I think he means the Veteran units in Multiplayer.
Afaik you need to use the certain unit type you want to obtain veteran from and do quite well with the unit (getting the rank 1 for it), after the battle it's still bit random roll do you get the veteran or not.

20 vets now got a level 4 yari cav vets that cost equal my general

don't worry keep fighting u got one soon enough but it kinda random 2 of my cav 1 got 1400+ exp another 1000+, the 1000 got up to vet, and u can only got 1 unit upgrade to vet per battle the already vets level up like the campaign

Best way to get veteran units is buildings and event bonuses. Keep your army as small as possible, or disband them and recruit when you get a good chance to build 5*+ units as to get them through battle would take almost the entire game or some serious tactics/luck in battle.

Thx guys for the answers but I figured it out myself. The point is that they need to know their abilitys for example for the no dachis banzai. I have already got three veteran units of them. By the way I didn't say, that that was about the multiplayer.
