if i buy Windows 7,will it be better and fastest in battlefield than Windows XP?? or cause its my PC?
sometime my battlefield look a bit slow...so???

Good idea, but fyi PCIE2 cards can run on a PCIE 1 bus. So its still very likely he has a P4 775 mated with a Gt 240 running on a MB with only PCIE 1

yea if its a socket 775 or even 478 did have PCIE slots, heck even brandnew 775 MB w/ PCIE 2 will except old P4s. MB dont care as long as its the same socket. So its hard to say for sure without a CPUID / CPUZ but it is diff possible.

I am not a hardware expert,and bought PC was from year 2006..so?
its PCI-E graphics and 4x RAM slot...pics here.

Graphics cards change last year,my bud fix that. old graphics cards was on 512mb Geforce LE (some numbre).

So, WarriorOne, if you're intent on upgrading likely a whole new shebang (apart from gfx) will be needed. You could keep the gfx card if you're on limited budget, I'm not sure what else though apart from any drives. Likely Spaxspore or someone else can advise if you can salvage anything else out of what you have. [AMD man myself ]

On Win7 - if you can afford it, get it. However, if you're going to keep your gfx, there's not a great deal to be gained by switching to Win7 right now as your gfx card isn't especially glorious. Win7 is excellent, but slower than XP generally if anything.

The only real issue is your budget. Decide what you want to spend, and get the best you can for that money.

since you have a socket 775, u can if the Mother board supports it, upgrade the cpu to a Core duo 2, or quad core. however it is not a custom built and is a dell, so it my have limitations on the included heatsync (dell likes to use preparatory cooling systems on some of thier desktop models)

You can probably get an E8500 super cheap, that was one of my favorite CPU's for overclocking. I hate my q9400 with this 750i board. Wish I wouldn't have given that e8500 to my brother.

I was playing ETW with P4 1.7. Seriously. A turn probably run around 10 minutes.

My current rig is still not finish yet. Had to borrow my wife's Dell XPS M1530 to play games now.

There is one important think to consider - Windows XP support end with DirectX 9. Your GFX card IMO supports DirectX 10, and to take advantage of that, you need Vista or Win7. More and more games today are optimized for DX10+ since it's cleaner API that offers more possibilities, with DX9 becoming "legacy" API.

However, as others pointed out, your CPU needs to be upgraded badly.
