Default How to handle Realm Divide

Hey boys and girls, time to figure out how to handle Realm Divide without losing ALLLL your allies!

Behold, numbers! Feel free to add your own!

    This is in hard mode.

For my ALLY, these are the modifiers:

    Trade: +60
    Divide: -55
    Marriage: +44
    Alliance: +40
    Expansion: -37
    Mastery of the Arts: +20
    Enemy of my Enemy: +15
    Same Religion: +10

    TOTAL: +97

    -----
So as you can see, it's possible to have a good alliance after the realm divide. HOWEVER, I don't know how high the modifier gets. If anyone who beat the game knows, please post the max.
By the look of it I didn't even need the marriage to keep the alliance either.

Now, lets look at some of my many enemies. Here are some of the interesting stats I picked up for them.

    War: Negative 70-120
Probably depends on how much they have been attacked/damaged. I believe this slowly goes down once war ends.

    Expansion: Negative 30-60
Varies. It seems to depend on how close the enemy is to you and how much you expanded into their territory, IE taking out their neighbors.

    Dishonoring Treaty: Negative 50
Yeah, wow. Be careful about breaking off treaties!

Trade Agreement Broke: around Negative 20
    Yeah, well...

    Allied with Enemy: Negative 20-120
Wow. I was only allied with one guy. It seems like, depending on how much they dislike your allies, that this could really, really stack up, ESPECIALLY with multiple alliances. I can also see that if some of your allies dislike each other, there could be some backstabbing involved. I would think this may be the source of a lot of peoples trouble.

All my enemies also had +10 from sharing my religion and +10 from my mastery of the arts (As opposed to my ally, which got +20)

So it seems that people will really hate you for having allies they also hate. Something to keep in mind.

I just had a bunch of allies and vassals, the vassals stayed with me in both games with one exception, the alllies generally not with two exceptions.

As far as I knew, modifiers go to 100. That's the highest number I have seen so far, at least. But I could be wrong, since you mention 120. If you got the cash to spare, and you usually do if you plan your empire right, hand your allies a few thousand gold every now and then to keep them happy. When an ally gets dangerously low, and you suspect he'll turn on you soon, park a few mid-sized (5-6 units, Ashigaru will do, unless it is a big castle) stacks outside his castles as they are usually not defended. When he declares war, take his castles and that put an end to it. You can even let him have his last province and make him a vassal again, at which point he'll be happy and help you further.

If you want to force the issue, but not look like a traitor to the rest of your allies, get some low level agents and do some sabotaging on difficult targets increasing your chances of failure an thus he declares ware on you and you can let the rest of your allies join in the fray.

Thing about realm divide though, after I became shogun it still increases. Except for those that I made vassals after I took power. I would reckon some factions would still have quite a go at you, but then again some would/should think strategically and try to ally with you as well. As it is now, after your reputation hits legendary it's just a matter of time before it is a full blown free-for-all. It just don't feel right somehow.

I can finish a tough campaign in two days, and that's about as short a TW game I have ever played. Given, I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment but still.
