    Default spies & unrest

i sometimes have big trouble with unrest, especially in bi as a german faction.
i guess often its enemy spies that make unrest.
so i d like to kill them. how do i detect enemy spies?

with other spies? or how can i uncover enemy spies on the campaign map and especially in my cities?

If you fear that an enemy faction may use a spy to infiltrate one of your larger settlements, keep one of your own spies there; By doing this it will limit the chance that their spy can open your doors during an attack, and it makes it harder for them to stay for extended periods. You can kill their spies with any of your assassins.

How can you kill an enemy spy with an assassin? The enemy spy becomes invisible. Are you saying that leaving an assassin in the city increases the chance of killing a spy?

good question. i think he ment if a spy is uncovered and becomes visible u can kill him with an assasin. i was aware of that its just that it often takes many many rounds until u uncover a spy on the map and the next rounf he might be invisible again for a long time.
keeping a spy in the city though is a good tip i guess. now i will check out the links provided. thx 4 the info so far

If you want to know about spies and unrest just take a look here:

    or here:

The effect of spies is described there in detail. I hope this does answer your question. Going to close this thread if "yes".
From the pride and arrogance of the Romans nothing is sacred. But the vindictive gods are now at hand. On this spot we must either conquer, or die with glory (Boudiccas Speech, Tacitus, Annals, XIV, 35)

Ive found out that its really hard to find enemy spies, u gotta have atleast doubble the enemies skill...
You have a certain mentality, a "you vs them" and i know it is hard to see, but it is only your imagination which makes up enemies everywhere. I haven't professed anything but being neutral so why Do you feel the need to defend yourself from me?. Truly What are you defending? when there is nobody attacking?

I try to keep a spy in every city I own to prevent unrest by enemy spies. If an enemy spy is captured, sometimes he'll be executed automatically. But sometimes he escapes. In that case, he will sit outside the city, visible, for a turn or two (he'll try to re-infiltrate). During that period, he can be targeted by your assassin, and almost always has a 95% chance to be killed, even by a little pee-wee assassin. Timing can be tricky, though, so you have to have a lot of assassins sitting around. Sharpen their skills on stray rebel captains and low-influence diplomats and soon you'll be murdering faction leaders and heirs.....

Yes I thought that also until I realised that spies add to your unrest, so now i am produing spies for most cites.. when they are built they seem to chuck out the resident enmemy spy!

i didnt know that... but if this is true, how much unrest can 1 spy make - or what difference does it make if you have a spy for which you have to pay upkeep... is it really more profitable to pay for all the spy network or maybe more profitable if you just handel the unrest?
