Interesting, the Cataphract is equipped with lance, bow and shield

Gaiten, am I wrong if I say that the Roman Cataphracts/Bucellarii used lance/ bow and bukler in the Age of the Justinian, during the Gothic wars? So probably the first model is a Roman cataphract of the VI century?

Very beautiful models, nice find. I think Diocle is right, the cataphract is from later date.
Here are some pictures of the late Second cetrury AD Romans, which I found recently. I think it´s allright to post them here, as the title of the thread is Roman troops of 3 second. Maybe also some some pictures of the later periods can be posted here?

tomy, did you see the super-mega-wonderful last model of your attachements? What kind of armor is it wearing? It seem a late lorica segmentata but it seems opened on both sides?!?!?! .....strange! ......we need Blatta!!

Never seen anyting similar! What do you think? Very interesting!!!

Yes, this detail is "eye catching" and it´s a little bit strange. Well maybe someone will comment this and maybe we will learn something new, but for now it seems only like an artist expression.

That legionary looks like the same legionaries from the Gladiator film. Not sure if those guys had openings on their sides like this model does though.

Hm, I never spoted this detail in Gladiator, maybe you are right. Here are also few photos of the cavalry reenactors (or how it should be spell), I think the photos are from Carnuntum:

I think it could be a Lorica Segmenta of the "Newstead" type.

Check this guy out, it appears to be the same model from my last post. More pictures in this link: http://www.hz-forum.eu/forum/showthread.php?tid=1019

Thanks for the link, these two models seems to give a modeller a chance for the nice diorama.

Not sure if you guys have been to Graham Sumner's website http://gsillustrator.co.uk/. He has alot of great illustrations on there, including but not limited to the 200s-500sAD. For example, the following 'Severan Legionary.'

Ah, and here is something else. Igor Dzis finally posted his full battle painting of "The wounding of Gallienus during the siege of Postumus," on his blog.

Yes wonderful!....but what helmet is wearing the man with the white shield, in the first image of FCG? Maybe a pseudo Attic helmet? The misterious pseudo Attic type, never found but represented everywhere?

OK - wrong place to show this but the way the video is shot is amazing. I love that moment where a 'tired' legionary is placing his hand up against the intrusive film camera. Also look for a brief 4th century Roman officer towards the end:

That's a good video alright. I actually saw one like this just yesterday that was on the RAT forum. You've probably seen it:
