I always kind of thought those helmets they wear with the the eagle on top were pretty cool looking. For some reason Peter Connelly sort of disses it. Anyone else got any opinions on the helmet in question?

To be honest I don't really have an opinion. But what I will say is I will certainly form an opinion if: there is material evidence IE archaeological, written and perhaps sculpture and or frescoes. What does P. Connelly say on the matter? I cannot see them be wide spread if they do exist, and it does look expensive.

Well I found some links with some info:
It's apparently referred to as the Theilenhofen Cavalry helm, c. 175 AD. And in a description from Peter Connolly's book "Rome and Greece At War," which I own, he has this to say about it: "Cavalry helmet from Theilenhoffn, c. 175 AD. Prahistorische Staatssammlung, Munich. This tinned bronze helmet, which is the epitome of Roman bad taste, could only have belonged to an officer."
    And an external link: http://www.romancoins.info/MilitaryE...nt-Helmet.html

I'd love it if the units in this mod are moddeled after those pics
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
What have the Romans ever done for us?? apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order... what have the Romans done for us?

So I found out something new about a month ago. I always kind of wondered what this particular piece of battle dress was used for other than cosmetic applications, and now I know. Those thin strips of leather below the waste, which was frequently used by the Greeks and Romans both, was apparently intended for protection over the thighs as most armor of the time generally only covered the torso. These strips of leather were called "pteruges," and here's a link with more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pteruges
And here's to hoping scale armor will be used by some of the Roman units in this mod, as scale armor is awesome.

I got the last two photos from here: http://www.planetfigure.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=24768
There's some people conversing about the accurracy of this figure.

Pretty sweet love the cavalry with eagle helmets and can't get enough of those legionaries with The lorica segmentata and the rectangular scutum.
