This is due to engine limitations and was done in need to code a family tree where they could have sons who are coming of age.

So you cant make them younger without screwing the family trees up and any ilogical setting prevents the game/engine from starting at all...

You can edit them in descr_strat, not advised though as chris pointed out.

Just a question; would it be possible to set the head of the family-tree at the age of 16, and then altering the age and character of his children to the age of '0'(not yet on the campaign map that is)?

If not; is it possible to alter the age of the sons to 16 and the age of the father to 32? With my point being that he was 16 when he had his son(32-16=16). Since I assume from a previous comment that the father must atleast be 16 years the childs senior?

I remember once when I played around a little in the vanilla desc_strat file(I don't mod nor do I alter files other than preferences - that's how much I know of game-mechanics ) so that my faction leader as the Scipii was 16 while not changing the age of anyone else. This lead to a game-error and I overwrote the file with my backup desc_strat file.

    1. I dont think so...but not 100% sure though
    2. you can always try...if its not working the game refues to start and tell you something like :ScriptError character xxx can not be older/younger than blablabla...line xxxx column xxxx, descr_strat.txt

@Chris10 Thanks! However I'm not going to test it out since I prefer to play others beautiful work rather then placing my own hand on it. I was just curious + I wanted to put those questions out on the table for others to read.
