    Default Gaining command stars ?

While the AI enjoys buffs to their command rating, it seems my generals almost always have only 3 or 4 maximum, often without any, despite using them often in battle.
That said, what exactly are the traits that give command points, and how do I gain them?

Fight battles where the odds are against you. Do a forum search and you'll find some threads with lots of tips.

I really have trouble with the search function of twcenter.net. Almost all my results seem to have nothing to do with my intended topic.
On a more related note, has there been changes between vanilla and SS? while I haven't played vanilla for long, I do recall playing RTW a lot and could easily recall a lot of my family members who started with 0 stars and died with 6 or 7. Somehow, I can't replicate that here in SS, even if a specific general fights battle after battle.

Yes in SS it is MUCH harder to get command stars. Vanilla made it too easy to get tons of 10 star generals. You dont really need command to fight the AI anyway.

    You need morale bonuses.

Not really. Not when you have a brain and the AI doesn't.

Go to export_descr_character_traits and search for command with a space before and after the word. This will get you to the traits that affect command. Then search for the trait names (name of the trait family) to see the triggers for those traits.

And what does those stars do exactly ?
I suppose that it improves the chances of victory in auto-resolved battles, but if we fight the battle ? Juste morale bonuses ?

Makes your troops fight longer near the general.

They help, and their more important then command stars IMHO.

Only in the sense they are even easier to gain than command stars. Many ancillaries provide +1 morale as well as some traits. Those combined with the command stars can lead to morale bonuses of +5 or more... not even sure there is a cap. It does make militias fight more like better troops but poor tactics can still overcome any morale bonus as routinely happens to poor AI.

It's most useful during seiges of course, especially when you're defending against a surprise attack . it's almost impossible to use tactics during seiges aside from exploits, so morale bonuses to the troops near the gate are a godsend.
Another benefit is during low-supply scenarios, when you can't attack an enemy force yet can't retreat either, so must stay put for a couple of years (thus giving morale debuffs).

They look nice and they help in the auto-calc.

I once had a king with maxed out command even with dangerously mad trait.

Seem like luck, 10% in game means 90% of contracting bad stuff for the player

It's really not that hard. Win battles with the odds against you, go on crusade or jihad if your faction's religion permits it, get your generals a military education whenever possible, and try and get smart generals to have as many kids as possible.
