Rome Total War Crashing Issues
I am sure every now and again a new user of Rome Total War posts a question or two on here related to bugs in the game causing crashing. I am the new guy today and am quite annoyed with my game's over all performance in this area. I am looking for some help...
The Issue
When I bought Rome Total War I began to fool around with the basic campaigns the game had to offer. I didn't have any issues that I was aware of and quite happily wasted hours playing the game. Recently however there is one very noticeable problem. I cannot wipe any faction out without the game crashing. Whenever I wipe out a faction the game closes down entirely. I can't very well proceed in playing the game if this sort of behavior continues.
Attempted Troubleshooting
My first thought was to uninstall and reinstall. This was done. The same problem occurred. I then noticed that there were quite a few patches for the game and so I went about attempting to download and install them.
Characteristics of Problem
At one time I was able to play Rome Total War with no issues installed right from the box so I know that it can run on this computer and has done so without serious hitch. The game does not shut down when any faction is destroyed, only when I destroy a faction. The game shuts down weather I win a battle on the battle map or simply auto-resolve the battle.
Further Lack of Understanding
It would appear that I do need to patch the game but I do not know how to install the patches or how many there are. Do I need to install from the first one ever put out or can I just install the latest one and have that fix all previous design flaws?
