    Default Pope numerals in 6.4

I don't like Popes to have numerals, for a number of reasons. I even made a minimod to get rid of them.

OK in 6.4 new Popes get a numeral. The first Pope is fine with no number, but new ones are numbered. The weird thing is that this numeral is NOT generated in the names files like descr_names, descr_names lookup or names.txt (including its bin file). That was the method used by Character Names Project, the mod that originally gave Popes numerals, and it was relatively easy for me to fix them so they no longer had numerals. It would seem that the numeral assignment is scripted or something.

The worst is that the numerals they get are ridiculous. For instance I had a Paschalis XXII. However historically there have been only two Paschalis. The only Paschalis existing in CNP was Paschalis II, the only Pope of such name that existed in the time period covered by the game. Then I had an Anastasius XII. There have been only four Anastasius in history, and CNP only included Anastasius IV, again the only Pope so named in the time period.

I would very much like to know how Popes are getting their numerals in SS 6.4. Is this a product of some of the mods included in the compilation?

1). The moment you put a Pope on the throne from a country from which few, if any, Popes actually came, you are ahistorical. Since this happens in every single game it's a moot point whether the Pope's name is historically correct for any given time period.

    2) John XXII was Pope in 1316 so having high numbers is not an issue, especially when it's probable that you, or someone else, has been assassinating them and/or killing them in battle.
I'm currently playing as England, and after hammering the Scots the Pope went medieval on my ass and booted me out of the God club. Next thing I know, I have dirty foreigners landing on my shores from wierd and far-flung countries. - Sargon_of_Akkad

    Hi,

well happends in my Games is that i spam Priests for a specific Reason (say for a crusade to help out around Jerusalem etc.), but i rarely stay there so the Priests get Promoted and become often Cardinals but i dont build new ones.
Eventually i control the Papacy for a while where all my Cardinals (with more or less the same age) get elected and die in very short order.
I went throught about 12 in 20-30 Turns last time.

Papal numerals are determined through traits (and not names) in SS 6.4, all of which will be purged once and for all in the SSTAIP submod.
