Default Why do random Free People armies form?

Especially in areas under stable control, like mainland Italy?

Just finding it annoying having to leave units in my cities to protect areas far from any hostile lands and was wondering if I'm the only one having this problem.

Is there no way to remove that feature? I dont remember it being this bad in Vanilla, although I am glad that its not nearly as terrible as the brigands that spawn every turn during Russia campaign in MTW2.

Btw nice work with Five Good Emperors, makes for a much tighter game.

    thnx...
when RSII patch 2.2 is out I add some new features like roman generals loyalty and new content to FGE for even more immersion ...

to reduce brigand spawn you have to change the value in the descr_strat.txt located in the xxxx campaign folder in data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign

in the top part of the file you find 2 values:
    brigand_spawn_value xx
    pirate_spawn_value xx

the higher you set the values the less brigands will spawn

Kind of. Got into MTW and ETW for the longest time after I got bored with first Roma Surrectum and Total Realism, havent played it in years and just now getting back into it. And Im sure you know that the newer Empire and Napoleon games are quite a drastic improvement. Its like playing the first Mass Effect after playing Mass Effect 2 :/ But thanks to this mod its so much better. So yeah, I can consider myself a noob if you would lol.

As for the values, thank you for the explanation. Maybe Empire has spoiled me after all because I dont remember this bothering me at all much. Awesome to hear patch is out, love whats been done with the game its nice to see that these older games are being kept alive and remembered.

Corruption and unrest increases the likelyness of brigans appearing.
    Build law & happyness buildings.
Also build a fort in every province and man it with a cheap unit.

This is what I've learned how to decrease brigands in my lands. I also usually have one family member hunting them down with a medium force. If I'm tired off fighting them I just cheat and "auto_win" them to save time.

Thank you for suggestion (apologies for double post btw).

I did not know that, and I appreciate you explaining this to me. Makes sense now, unhappy populace=hostility.
