    Default Crashing During Battle

    Hello All,

    I'm new here, so hello to everyone!

    Here is my issue, I'm hoping someone can help as i am scared that if i buy Shogun 2 the same issue may persist.

    The game starts with no issue, and i am able to start a campaign. While in the Continent view i have had no issue. The problem happens randomly while i am in a battle. My PC will freeze completely forcing a hard reboot. Sometime the game just freezes, sound continues. Other times the sounds get stuck in a very quick loop. So far this has only happened in battle. I have been able to complete a few, but in the last 2 days since i bought the game the issue has happened at least 10 times.

    My system is a Q9550 with a Radeon 5870 running on 11.2 drivers. Win7 64bit, 4 GB ram installed. No other games have had any persistent crashing issues, but i have no had a chance to try any other Total war games. My CPU is running under load at between 45-50 degrees. Running Prime95 and some memory tests showed no issues.

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

    Have you updated your motherboard chipset drivers?
    Have you installed directx 9.0c and C++ 2005 SP1?
    What sound do you have besides Microsoft"s generic drivers?
    Have you tried lowering your monitor resolution, eyecandy, even trying shader 2?

    Resolution no, at 1920x1200 but i have lowered shading to 2, and everything to medium

    I will install the realtek drivers, and try to lower the resolution and report back. Thanks for the tips thus far

    Hi,

    So i have installed the realtek drivers, but then tried the game while using my headphones via USB. I managed to get through 2 battles, but on the 3rd the issue came back. I forgot to check the Resolution, so i will try that tomorrow, but for now bed. In the mean time i have pre-ordered Shogun as it looks awesome and i wanted the TF2 content for pre-order.

    I really hope that this issue does not persist in the new game or i wasted $50

    Anywho, thanks for the help thus far, and I'll update tomorrow once tested with Different resolution.

    Thanks!

    Got shogun 2, So far the battle is stable, i've probably played maybe 5-6. But now Shogun is crashing in Campaign view

    Could this all be due to a 2nd monitor plugged in?
