    Default event_strings.txt inconsistent?

    looking through the unpacked event_string.txt I find the following entries in the M2TW data\text\event_strings.txt file (the one that mods default to in the absence of their own file):

    Code:
    {faction_defeated_by_player_body_greek}This wretched collective of barbaric heathens aspiring to nobility has been eradicated thanks to your decisive leadership. They may be forgotten, but the legacy of your dynasty's mighty conquests shall not!
    {faction_defeated_by_player_body_mesoamerican}DO NOT TRANSLATE
    {faction_defeated_by_player_body_northern_european}The long legacy of these people has at last come to an end by your hand! Celebrations held in honour of your glorious conquest of their dominion erupt throughout the kingdom, with everyone from prince to pauper toasting your righteous reign!
    {faction_defeated_by_player_body_southern_european}The long legacy of these people has at last come to an end by your hand! Celebrations held in honour of your glorious conquest of their dominion erupt throughout the realm, with everyone from prince to pauper toasting your righteous reign!
    {faction_defeated_by_player_eastern_european}The long legacy of these people has at last come to an end by your hand! Celebrations held in honour of your glorious conquest of their dominion erupt throughout the kingdom, with everyone from prince to pauper toasting your righteous reign!
    {faction_defeated_by_player_middle_eastern}This wretched collective of barbaric heathens aspiring to nobility has been eradicated thanks to your decisive leadership. They may be forgotten, but the legacy of your dynasty's mighty conquests shall not!
    Compare:
    {faction_defeated_by_player_eastern_european}
    {faction_defeated_by_player_body_northern_european}

    (also in at least one of the kingdoms mods too.)

    No idea if it's important but shouldn't all cultures have the same format?
    (presumably all should have the _body included?)

    I think it's just another case of sloppy variable naming in m2tw, so: no, there is no "right" way of having the "_body" text in there for all cultures. Just use what's already there.

    CA sloppiness the coder must have confused it with the historic events file.

    Defeat an easertn european faction and see what message you get. In RTW there were a couple of those errors that actually were errors and thing just weren't displayed in game, but it was relatively unnoticed.

    Good point --- I just did a couple of quick tests to see how the variables are triggered:

    Playing as Egypt, I destroyed the Turks, and the "Faction Destroyed" event did occur. I'm not sure which variable was triggered, though, because there are only 2 variations, but the one I got was "The long legacy of these people...". Playing as the Byzantines, I destroyed the Turks again, and this time I got the "This wretched collective of barbaric heathens..." message.

    So there's no bug... I think the variable names are still very sloppy though, because of the fact that when playing as Egypt, after killing the Turks, I got the "The long legacy..." variant, which is according to the file only for non-middle eastern factions. So maybe the engine just chooses the "The long legacy" variant if you kill a faction with the same religion, and otherwise the "The wretched collective" variant.
