Default [HELP] Were are the general stats?

I started modding a new copy of rtw for personal use, but I got a problem:

To keep it simple this time I started by outsourcing specific factions. For instance I created own descr-entries for the numidians and iberians in order to heavily modify the carthaginians without inflicting the numidians/iberians.

According to this I created new export_descr_unit.txt entries for the "numidian generals cavalry early" and "numidian generals cavalry". They are a standalone-units now. Same goes for the iberians.

But I dunno where I need to change the linking, so that the game doesn't look into "carthaginian generals cavalry", but instead into "numidian generals cavalry".

The "descr_character.txt" doesn't seem to contain any linkings to the export_descr_unit.txt, so this can't be it...I think.

Could someone gimme the final hint? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but that's not the solution I'm looking for.

See, there are three stages a unit has to pass to be buildable in game:

1.) Entry in descr_model_battle.txt --> contains the model and texture information

    2.) Entry in export_descr_unit.txt / export_descr_unit_enums.txt --> contains the information about the unit's stats and a link to it's descr_model_battle.txt entry

3.) Entry in export_descr_buildings --> contains the information what building is able to build these unit and links to it's stats in the export_descr_unit.txt

And the problem ist: There is NO entry for general units in the export_descr_buildings.txt so I dunno how they are buildable in game. For this "third stage" there must be another text file concerning the generals!

Afaik (but I admit I don't know too much about that), the early general's units are indeed the units with the general_unit attribute, if you removed the attribute for the carthaginian cav.
For the later ones, there is a building capability, I forgot what it's called though, that enables them when a specific core building level is created.

No thing is everything. Every thing is nothing.

GUs are default units defined in the EDU file and attached by virtue of the first instance of the general_unit attribute in the EDU entries for your faction to all generals (in R:TW).

Thus they are not to be found in R:TW's EDB.

I am sorry if I am not understanding your question. If you are referring to the General's stats then they are, I believe, a mere modification of the bodyguard's stats.

Did you remember to remove Numidia, Spain, etc. from the the old entry for Carthage? If you prepared a new entry, it should be using the new bodyguard.

I really doubt it will use the new entry automatically, but I'm going to test this. It's easy to find out, if I remove the ownership of "numidia" with the original generals bodyguard ("carthaginian general's guard") and ingame there's no numidian genereal in custom battle then it just doesn't work.

But I really don't understand how this can be so difficult? If the generals are defined in some unknown file or maybe even hardcoded, how did so many total conversion change it?!

Mhm....maybe I should just ask on of the total conversion creators....

The general units are defined in esxport_descr_unit with the general_unit attribute added to the unit. The general strat map models are deined in descr_characters.

That's great - you know, you shouldn't really trust these total-conversion creators anyway
