    Default RTW s siege system

Have you noticed guys, that the siege system is messed up with the towers.Every time i see a siege tower I have to move my units out of the towers point of view to stop it from firing from me.Ive got ****** off after seeing my units get destroyed before the siege even starts. Also the ai are idiots at siege.Even when I have a gap in the wall they keep using their siege weapons, gah.Share your thoughts about the siege system guys.

as soon as the ramp of the siege tower is lowered and the men start pouring out. They fall right thru the stone and die. But some manage to get ontop of the wall as normal. i got BI 1.6 btw.

Siege battles have still much to improve. Once my enemies got stuck in a siege tower and began to "fight to death" against the air, instead of fleeing through the open door. And some soldiers also have this problem on walls. Really, I don't like fighting siege battles with anything more than a wooden wall, because they are not so buggy like stone walls and improved wall upgrades battles.

It rarely happens but it does happen. Sieges have improved graudally ever since BI but still the siege AI is seriously lacking capacity to strike a well organized and defensive human player. At last you wont easily drive them back with one or two stronger units now as the actually do use their equipment for multiple units and not just the one unit bein equipped with it at the beginning of the battle.

Lol ya the fire arrows rarely work, even though it should. The only improvement ive seen the bug that had the comp fighting to the last man on the tower is fixed.Lol i remember having to cook something while the game was fast fowarded. The siege ai is not going to win unless they completly cover your town, which rarely happens unless a horde comes at your doorstep

If the wood of the siege tower is very damp, it probably won't light up. I know that in heavy rain, even battering rams can usually make it to the gate without being lit up, and we all know how easy it is to light up a battering ram. I actually modded my game to make battering rams twice as tough to light up because I thought it was ridiculous how they instantly became totally useless as soon as stone walls appear.

I once heard it would not be uncommon for siege engineers to strap bags of wet seaweed to the front of towers or some rams...obviously, it won't ignite...this should be reflected in rams...but CA obviously didn't do so.

To make sieges funnier try to sap the wall you're trying to attack with your siege tower.

I wonder if it's possible to take a unit of carriage ballistae outside, blast away at the siege tower until it falls, and then run back inside. Obviously, you'd have to do this by exiting a side gate and then running around the city walls rather than coming right out the front gate into the midst of all their troops.
