How to import custom char models from 3dmax?
In other games ,like Hl2 ,unreal , or Doom3 ,there are pluggins to import your custom characters or buildings to those games. Have experience with 3danimation .Im looking to create more detailed quality units ,not just editing the ones that already exist in the game. But creating entirely new dynamic character units ,perhaps a completely new Rome city ,all that with very higher polygons and quality textures ,and animations when required. Question is..
*performance is not important* ,for now ....im not looking to play.. just to test high quality models in the game.
1) it is possible to import very High quality models ,let say fantasy characters ,and castles ,and all the animation with lots of polygons and textures to RTW?
2) WHat are the maximun limits in the ammount of polys ? maximun for textures? that i can use for characters units? and buildings .usually games have harcoded limits in the engine ,that you need follow for the pluggins to work. (performance is not an issue.. for now just wanna know how my high quality models looks in the game.)
3) i heard MAx is the aplication used by modders... what versions are supported? any other 3dsoftware ?
4)can you replace retail game unit animations for entirely new ones? what are the limits?
any info appreciated..

I don't think high poly units will fit well, because Rome total war supports only one weight per vertex.
I think pretty much all max versions are supported, and I heard that the plugin works with gmax as well.
About the textures, I'm pretty sure you can only have 256x256 textures.
You can make new animations, but as I said, every vertex can be controlled by only one bone.
