Default How are the women treated in your country?

I watched the International Women's Day ad with Daniel Craig on it. I find it surprising that women in the West virtually have no chance of climbing up in the career ladders. I am Asian, from the Philippines, and based from the statistics 53% of executive positions in major companies are hold by women (talk about a country being backwards) and other Asian countries also has many female executives in their company. I have also seen a documentary and have shown that the exporting tycoon in Shanghai is a woman and the interviewer said that 'usually the tycoons are ugly fat bloke'.

Everything has its beginnings, but it doesn't start at one. It starts long before that- in chaos. The world is born from zero. The moment the world becomes one, is the moment the world springs to life. One becomes two, two becomes ten, ten becomes one hundred. Taking it all back to one solves nothing. So long as zero remains, one will eventually grow to one hundred again. - Big Boss

Right, unless women the majority of executive positions in major companies, the country is backward. Ah those evil males.
Not to mention that, according to constitutions and stuff, we are supposed to be equal regardless of genders, but for some, women are more equal than others and deserve pink quotas so that they can finally get those damned executive positions.

In my country, we like to treat them as objects of sexual desire. And they love it. As opposed to Italy, where Silvio has given many (often attractive) women high positions of power.

    Better than men.
Under the patronage of Emperor Maximinus Thrax
"Steps to be taken in case Russia should be forced out of war considered. Various movements [of ] troops to and from different fronts necessary to meeting possible contingencies discussed. Conference also weighed political, economic, and moral effect both upon Central and Allied powers under most unfavorable aspect from Allied point of view. General conclusions reached were necessity for adoption of purely defensive attitude on all secondary fronts and withdrawing surplus troops for duty on western front. By thus strengthening western front [those attending] believed Allies could hold until American forces arrive in numbers sufficient to gain ascendancy."

Depends by whom. Most of them get treated well (though they complain about the lack of positive prejudice in the career, and when we do enforce positive prejudice they start complaining about it again), but many Haredi families remind me of Iran. Fortunately, the Arab-Israelis treat their women very well.

Both male and female walruses have tusks and have been observed using these overgrown teeth to help pull themselves out of the water.

The mustached and long-tusked walrus is most often found near the Arctic Circle, lying on the ice with hundreds of companions. These marine mammals are extremely sociable, prone to loudly bellowing and snorting at one another, but are aggressive during mating season. With wrinkled brown and pink hides, walruses are distinguished by their long white tusks, grizzly whiskers, flat flipper, and bodies full of blubber.
Walruses use their iconic long tusks for a variety of reasons, each of which makes their lives in the Arctic a bit easier. They use them to haul their enormous bodies out of frigid waters, thus their "tooth-walking" label, and to break breathing holes into ice from below. Their tusks, which are found on both males and females, can extend to about three feet (one meter), and are, in fact, large canine teeth, which grow throughout their lives. Male walruses, or bulls, also employ their tusks aggressively to maintain territory and, during mating season, to protect their harems of females, or cows.
The walrus' other characteristic features are equally useful. As their favorite meals, particularly shellfish, are found near the dark ocean floor, walruses use their extremely sensitive whiskers, called mustacial vibrissae, as detection devices. Their blubbery bodies allow them to live comfortably in the Arctic region—walruses are capable of slowing their heartbeats in order to withstand the polar temperatures of the surrounding waters.
The two subspecies of walrus are divided geographically. Atlantic walruses inhabit coastal areas from northeastern Canada to Greenland, while Pacific walruses inhabit the northern seas off Russia and Alaska, migrating seasonally from their southern range in the Bering Sea—where they are found on the pack ice in winter—to the Chukchi Sea. Female Pacific walruses give birth to calves during the spring migration north.
Only Native Americans are currently allowed to hunt walruses, as the species' survival was threatened by past overhunting. Their tusks, oil, skin, and meat were so sought after in the 18th and 19th centuries that the walrus was hunted to extinction in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and around Sable Island, off the coast of Nova Scotia.

People here complain about that there are too few women in high positions. BS in my opinion.
There should be no discrimination, and that includes positive discrimination as well.

The real reason is that most women look after the kids and the household, possibly combined with some part-time job without career prespectives while the men work fulltime.

There is nothing wrong with this, it is natural.

Though you have to agree that in most parts of the world, negative discrimination is widespread enough to put many women out of a job and thus leave them no option but to be a stay-at-home mum. Positive discrimination is sometimes necessary, especially when considering high position jobs, in order to break the vicious cycle of anti-women prejudice.

That being said, God help you if you try to help out an ultra-femenist ("what you think you're better than me? That I need help because I'm a woman? Chauvinist!").

The best person should get the postition (in a company or a governmental organisation).

Blame the traditional role patterns. But these aren't wrong.
It was meant this way by nature/god. Exceptions are perfectly OK but we should not try to have more woman working fulltime and have men sit at home looking after the children/cleaning the house.

What's "natural" anyways? Certainly isn't "natural" in many other parts of the world or times in history.

In today's society, with the way we earn our living in much of the industrialized West, what was "natural" back in the tribal days surely is not so anymore.

I am a trophy husband to a high powered doctor.
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

Actually we meet while I was still a junior in high school, she was in college. We married after I left college and she was in med school. I worked until our first child was born and just before she finished her residency. That was about 7 1/2 years ago. Haven't had a real job since. I "retired" at 28. Now my life consists of going to the gym everyday, kids soccer, playing computer games and servicing her needs.

My wife is setting the curve for female doctors in her specialty. She just got elected to the state board, she gets consulted on new surgery devices, one company has asked her to endorse their products even.

I call her the "godmother" because so many other female doctors hcome to her for professional advice and help. And I only half jokingly say she is going to be surgeon general. With her position on the state board its only a matter of time before she will be on the national board and rubbing elbows with Congressmen and Senators.

That's propaganda they have plenty of chance, companies are meritocracies.

It's just that usually women are worse at management than men (well there's debate over it actually but a very active feminist told me women were worse at it), so it's natural more men will be in the higher positions. That's not say there aren't lots of women who can do it too, but there are less women who are good managers than men simply by nature.

A couple of studies have shown men work harder than woman (In paid situations I think). Not sure if they've been disproved yet though.

In Capitalist Lithuania women are treated as beautiful beasts who time to time gets beaten up for being blonde. Our president is a woman. Actually woman are ones who are yet not corrupted by money in this country.
