    Default Late era generals?

Is there any way to "update" your generals to that of late era versions? The only late-era generals I've seen are those recruited, which is divorced from the timeline (ie. recruitable very early esp. with OST mods), resulting to your family generals quickly becoming outclassed

No you can't unless you mod it in late era campaign. The system of switching to late era type from early type general is broken by CA so there is nothing we can do about it.

eh? just to confirm, the only late-era generals available in game are either via custom battles or, as of 6.4, by hiring them from fortresses?

or if you edit the EDU and desr_strat (delete the early generals in the EDU, or at least move them BEHIND the late generals, and then replace all the early gen entries with late gens)
1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....

RR/RC has a file you put in and it gives you late bodyguards.
