Generic Error with new 2.1 patch... help?

FIRST OFF: I use Windows 7 64-bit home premium, with a decent graphics card, I5 processor at about 2.6GHz and 6GB of RAM. Downloaded into a new folder and installed RS2 into a separate folder in the C drive to which I had already copied a clean version of RTW patched to 1.5. Some weird boxes with "12" in it and it wouldn't let me use the options at the bottom (eg. hi-res models) as it "failed to copy"

SECOND: Thought I'd install the 2.1 patch, download into same desktop folder, extracted them there, then copied the contents into the "Roma Surrectum 2" folder. There was one issue where it could not find the "sound" file it was copying anymore.. But sounds have nothing to do with the problem, i think??
I ran the launcher again, this time no boxes with "12" in it when i click on things, selected "RomeTW.exe" and the "Rome" options as before and tried to run, it asked if I'd chosen a faction, I selected yes. Screen went black, it loaded the "Roma Surrectum II" backround thing. Then before anything else I got a CTD, with:

"Generic Error:

MODEL_DB failed to open battle database"

EDIT: SOLVED.
Deleted the whole folder, re-copied clean RTW patch 1.5 into C drive, installed RS2 again from saved dowload files. Then -extracted- the 2.1 patch to the folder, rather than extracting it at the source folder and copying into my game folder.
