If I were to rate from 1 to 10, lowest to highest, respectively, I'd rate the Human Race off the scales. From Hitler to Stalin, Saddam to Gadaffi, virtually every ruler had intentionally killed human beings for their greed.
Materialism is a virtue, Greed is a value. Wars have brought nothing but death(wars are in our genes so there's nothing I can do about it). Money gave a comfortable life to a few but left behind more starving. Our relentless expansion has destroyed lots of natural habitats. We slaughter animals on an industrial scale. Religion is used by extremists to justify their actions.

The Human Race is so corrupt and there is nothing I can do about it.

We are a young race tho, In a few billion years the human race should be quite special. Once we have the technology everything should be relatively peaceful , happy and calm i imagine.

It's not easy to place such a value on the human species when you don't have any comparison to attribute to.

Not according to that Professor who claims through his research that man has reached the pnnacle of evolution. That said perhaps you can explain the wars that the chimps and monkeys were involved in? I mean aren't we supposed to be their continuation?

Being vile and corrupt is surely one of the reasons that got them leading nations and wreaking havoc.
But, no, I don't think that the average person like you and me can compare to something like that.

Vile and corrupt in relation to what? Ourselves? Our the universe around us? Because trust me the latter doesn't give a hoot about what we do. You're asking a question in which we are expected to measure ourselves against ourselves.

So then the answer can either be very vile and corrupt, or not nearly corrupt and vile enough. I'd go for the latter because despite all our vileness we still manage to do pretty well for ourselves.

It's all a question of morals. Materialism for many is anything but a virtue and greed as well, especially those who follow the strict rules of the Bible/Quran. Money gives a comfortable life to a few and it also gives us the chance to do something about those who starve, be it in the form of donations or voluntary action or any other small effort that can help.

Saying your average Joe is corrupt and Machiavellian is far fetched. Some rulers on the other hand are that way, otherwise they would not have attained their respective position. But look in history, there's many rulers who cared for their people and focused on developing their state/nation/tribe rather than developing their own personal money chests.
