Default I cant get rid of this virus!!!!!!

Everytime I start up my computer my antivirus program pops up and tells me that it found the virus "trojan horse IRC/BackDoor.Sd.Bot.MYX" while opening C:\oo.exe.

I tell it to delete the file and it says virus succsefully deleted but everytime I start my computer up it pops up again. I just cant seem to permantly get rid of this thing.

Any help on how I can get rid of it? Thanks in advance.

Isnt there some way you can change what programs lauch on startup, if so I could just tell it not to launch.

Go to Start, click Run, and type in 'msconfig.exe' without quotes.

Thats how you change what program startup. What I suggest you do is update your anti-virus program and scan again, if that don't work install another anti-virus program, sometimes one anti-virus program can't detect all the viruses. I personally has 3 anti-virus/spyware program on my computer. If one anti-virus can't catch it the other will.

What software do you use? Hopefuly its up to date.

If you want to edit what loads on startup, press the start button, then press 'Run'. In the box that pops up, type in "msconfig" then press ok. In the new window that should pop up, you have access to change what windows essentialy 'does' when you turn your computer on. Click the services tab for example and youll see a large list like this of functions etc:

Click the 'startup' tab and youll see a list of every application that trys to load itself. To disable something, remove the tick next to it.

I'll warn you now though, dont just go turning things off as you see fit, a lot of the things listed here are critical to your system running as it should.

sorry for using bold.. had to be done

Having a look couldnt hurt though, for every application which is enabled, google it to find out what it is - if its anything you dont want then disable it.

Alternatively, i did a quick search a found what seems like a decent web site for helping you

In particular for your problem it has this advice:

    3) Scan for Viruses and Trojans

Even if you already have an up-to-date antivirus program installed, one program can never catch every possible threat.

Panda Active Scan - Online Virus Scan
    How to use:
Follow online instructions, allowing software to install and run.
