Default How do I change spy chances

for being assassinated? I really enjoy SPQR it's great but the spies are pretty much untouchable. Even my best assassins fall to the lowliest spies, time after time. And each attempt just makes it even that much more improbable that the guy can ever be whacked!
We've all seen it, but after a while it just annoys the hell out of me to have 8 or so spies flushed out that can't be touched.

(2+ are inside the city at all times)

I have an army of assassins on that island and out of probably 30 tries I have killed only 1 spy. Most times they die or worse/ get the "inept poisoner" label making them pretty much a worthless drain on my economy.

    Help please?

Build a Better Forum. The better the Forum the better the Assassin. Its not mentioned in the manual but in the triggers, the better forums give better chance of kills for the assassins.

Also SPQR 6.0 has had the Chances adjusted by building a better forum even more. Great forums and Curia make better assassins than just the forum.

First of all I just wanted to congratulations on clearing out Sicily. I’ve kept a close eye on Sicily in my Brutii campaign and I didn’t like to think how much effort it would take to get rid of those Carthaginians, were being constantly reinforced from North Africa.

As for assassins, I suggest you get them target captains and rebels and build up there skills that way until they are capable of taking out a spy. Also I wouldn’t worry about the spy’s to much they can’t be any harm to you at the moment.

Well I tried what you said, I trained several assassins in my cities with great forums and they start out as cutthroats; but they still only have like 7-12% chance....I shipped over one of my best assassins (superior assassin w/ loads of traits etc.) from Macedonia and at best he had 46% chance on one of the flunky spies- He was killed.
I have inept poisoners and ham-fisted murders there now (and those can't be killed) but everywhere else my assassins stay ahead of the espionage game.

Where is it that spy or assassin traits can be modified?

Thanks Freddie, I don't mind them so much except they cause so much unrest at times. Which = loss of income. As for Sicily, I don't play historically (obviously) but what I challenge myself to do is take as many coastal/strategic cities as possible.
To take Sicily I load up a crack army once I have ballistas. I sail over to Africa and take out a lightly defended town. This brings every Carthaginian in Africa to attack me and diverts reinforcements from Sicily. Once they start closing in, I attack from the other direction until they are completely defensive.

edit: I also build forts in Sicily to keep the Scipii from expanding too much, because I hate fighting 3,000 Romans vs 3,000 Romans. (Actually it's usually 3,000 of my troops vs 7-9k of them though right?)
