missing something in installation?

I hate to start a new thread for this but i copied and printed the download instructions and followed it to the letter.
fresh install of BI up to 1.6 and no other mods or changes.

the shortcut comes out fine and starts the game but when i go to select a campaign only the vanilla bi factions are there with the BI interface

am i missing something?

as I said i dont even know what problem to log as i am doing everything as per instruction (very literally) any help would be great.....

Are you using Vista or Windows7? If so, have you installed RTW in the Program Files? I think there's some issue with that.

Do you have exactly a "Rome - Total War/bi/ci/data" folder structure in your game directory? That is, not ""Rome - Total War/bi/bi/ci/data" or something similar.

A) Nope Xp so nice and straightforward.

B) file structure is normal and double checked both the target shortcut and the installation....

Like i said i literally sat with your instructions from the download page and went line by line.

I checked the file and everything seems to be there ie alot of Lords of the Ringy stuff

Did you use the .exe (automatic installer) or the .rar (manual installation) version? Some times users' OS and the installer's software don't agree.

What is the size of the .rar file you downloaded? Is the campaign folder (bi/ci/data/world/maps/campaign/the_new_shadow) in tact (11.4 MBs)?

about 650ish maybe slightly bigger, i remember it wasn't more than 700 as it fitted on one of my older flash clips sorry im not at home at the mo so cant check....

you think maybe download the exe one and try that??

There's a chance the download was corrupted and some files missing (though the corruption was been very selective!), so redownloading sounds like a good idea, either the .exe or the .rar version.

Exe is 551 MB (564.sth KB), RAR is 690 MB (707.027 KB).

ok sweet i checked again last night and everything seems above board but what i will do is get the exe file and try that.

I keep getting a message to (choose an item from the above list) every time I choose The New Shadow Campaign, it goes nowhere but keeps giving me that message no matter what I do. I can play historic battles and custom but its error'ing on provincial campaign. Is there a quickfix on this?

Your BI isn't patched up to 1.6

Delete the "ci" directory (in order to remove the mod), patch up BI and then re-install FATW.

Ok, I thought it was 1.6 considering i have the gold edition am I wrong? I cant find a link to dl the 1.6 patch.

Some Gold Editions are 1.4, that's why we ask players to check their version before installing.

SEGA keeps moving their downloads around, so googling is your bets bet of finding the patch (if the below doesn't work).
