You must put .tga files in data/models_unit/textures/ folder (/textures may not exist, so create it).

In your "Data" folder make a new folder "models_unit", in these folder another one named "textures". Here you've got to put your new texture.
You have to replace the texture path in "models_battle.txt" in you data folder with the new one. The original skin files are packed in "Data/packs/models_unit.pak".
You'll need Vercingetorix' PAKextractor in order to unpack them. You can find it in the download section. There you can also find a .pdf tutorial for skinning and modding RTW in general. I'm not good at explaining, but I hope I helped you.

descar_models_battle in the data folder it has an icon like a little note pad, calm down its is there as the game dosnt run without it.

if your just replacing a skin and not renaming all you need to do is copy and paste it to

data/packs/models_unit/textures (if you have unpaked the pak files)

BUT BEFORE YOU DO make a copy of the textures folder you'll be glad you did one day

If you want to use the unit as a new unit for the game, you must put icon in the UI file (if you don't have it you must create it).One icon for the units_info folder and one for units folder. And a description of the unit in text\export_units.txt.

The file is descr_model_battle.txt, it lists which unit uses which model and textures. In normal RTw the textures are locked up in a pak file. export_descr_unit.txt has information about units and what soldier type and officers each unit uses. Both text files can be found in for example C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total war\data folder.
