    Default changing psf battlemap

I've tried to make a certain fort on the camp map into a village on the battlemap as I have decided to experiment with forts,
I added the village settlement into the ambient_settlement folder and added the entry in descr_strat. Yet on the battlemap it plays the vanilla forts. Im guessing either I have missed some text changes or that it is impossible to do this.
    Help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

the only thing that effects what is loaded is the .worldpkgdesc files
that tells game which .world etc to load and which file path...

moving things around in the folders doesn't effect it, unless you effectively replace the vanilla village files with your forts .world and .worldcollision ones

to make it look up another folder you need to make a .worldpkgdesc in your mod_folder/data/settlements/... folders that directs 'x' cultures village to the file path that your fort/**.world is in.

You have to edit it with a hex editor not notepad. Read this tutorial it will give a slight heads up on how to play with them.

    If you download IWTE tool
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=323503
(don't worry about rest of stuff in it!)

'WorldFiles' tab has 'Edit worldpackage' button - which allows you to edit one without using hex editor - change values and press OK and it'll save new worldpkgdesc file with 'wd' added to the file name. The file name of the worldpkgdesc doesn't matter game reads all of them in Settlements folder even if they are called 'Copy of... etc
so watch out for leaving unwanted ones there

    If using IWTE ---
What you need is pkg that gives the 'Pkg Path' to your village
    settlements/north_european/settlements/village/north_european_village_a.world type thing...

In the 'Name' section (thats inside the file - not the file name) give it any new unique name like my_fort
'my_fort' will then be what you put in descr_strat to place the fort

and the 'Type' in the pkg needs to be 'default_fort'

Just make sure you put a file called packagedb.txt in the data folder of your mod otherwise your changes won't take effect.

Okay, no more stopped responding error which is a good thing. And I've followed both of your instructions yet the vanilla fort still shows in the battlemap.

Did you make the changes in descr_strat.txt ? To call that fort you need an entry in the end section like

    region Reading_Province

    farming_level 0
    famine_threat 0
    fort 220 53 my_fort culture northern_european
    type thing....

you probably also need to delete the map.rwm and re-start the campaign for it to take effect.

Don't know why I never deleted the map.rwm to see if it works.
    I will report back

Tried it, yet it still plays the vanilla settlement.

Any more reasons for it not to work?

The world file contains references to the other files the settlement needs to load, so you should make sure the paths are correct by using the IWTE, also here is some info from another thread.

what i mean is for example a entry that is correct with non buildable stone forts to have a pre placed stone fort is this

    region Region_x
    farming_level x
    famine_threat x
    fort 68 103 me_fort_a culture middle_eastern

to make a placable fort when you have set in the campaign_db to be able to build forts the entry for descr strat merely looks like this

    region Region_x
    farming_level x
    famine_threat x
    fort 68 103 culture middle_eastern

You will find it reverts to the base model fort being stone in the battle map where is if you use the first type entry which works with non buildable ones it looks like stone on the strat map but is wood in battle .

Enjoy gentlemen and as you say one is glad to be of service
    Hope this helps somewhat...
