As a new moderator working within the ‘Pit I have begun to notice names more and more. To be honest, the point is to highlight those that push the boundaries of TWC etiquette. Sheep is one whose posts jumped out at me for somewhat different reasons:
1. 1) They were well reasoned and
2. 2) They were respectful and polite.
3. 3) He mixes up his posts. They are generally well informed but he still uses the odd occasional one liner to either elicit more information or add a touch of humour.
Sheep has demonstrated that he can follow an argument in many areas – he has posted regularly in the ‘‘Pit’ and in the ‘Ethos, Mores, et Monastica’ forums. I also note that he has not received any warnings in his time here. He’s not particularly prolific, but he posts intelligently. When I see comments in the Curia about ignoring the purpose of the thread and ignoring a moderator’s warning, he is an example of someone who has consistently kept within the boundaries of threads and moved the argument on. A good egg, as they say!
I’ve briefly chatted to him regarding Civitateship and feel that he demonstrates the right attitudes already. All he needs is the stamp of approval.
Patronees para:
As a Civitate, I would be expected to behave myself in accordance with TWC Policies and to contribute meaningfully to discussion wherever I post in the Forums. I will be expected to uphold the honor of my fellow Civitates by always holding myself up to high standards.
For example, I could helpfully assist other posters if they have a problem, try to keep discussions on topic and head off flamewars before they start, report bad posts to the moderators, and always conduct myself in a civil manner even in disagreement. This would not only reflect well on my fellow Civitates but also set an example to the general population, perhaps encouraging themselves to act responsibly as well.
I am also permitted to take part in the governance of TWC by participating in votes and hearings along with my fellow Civitates. I am responsible for bringing to the attention of the other Civitates any actions or decisions made by TWC staff members (including other Civitates) which I deem unfair or incorrect, and in rare instances, calling for a popular vote to overturn them or reprimand the party if need be.
In return, I receive a Civitates badge to wear with honor in the forums, and I receive access to the private forums off-limits to non-Civitates, discussions in which will only increase my knowledge and debating skills. I can appeal any decision before my fellow Civitates. And after three months of untarnished service, I can patronize new Civitates.
Thank you.
Sheep
