Russian Unicorns

Hi. I was just wondering if one russian unicorn artillery piece is better than several others. Since iw not been playing very much as Russia i do not know the stats and stuff like that

It just may be the best artillery piece in the game. So, when you play online don't wonder why everyone chooses russia for land battles.

Yeah it is, if you got the best howitzer and cannon in the game and combined their features you get the unicorn. 2-3 unicorns(20 lb) in an army can pretty much devastate half the enemy army before they even get to you.

In 3 words: Perfect for campers.

I have never come across these 'unicorns', have they seriously included mythical creatures in this game?

No i dont know they are called unicorns but they are russian artillery pieces

Everything written so far on this thread is nonsense. A prussian british or french howitzer (if in range) will often rout a unicorn crew when engaged in a 1v1 duel because the unicorn crew has very low morale. yes a 20lb unicorn fires the most powerful projectile of any arty unit in the game but it costs the same as 2 line regiments. I can honestly say I have never been beaten by a player using unicorns on a balanced map. The fact is, if they take four unicorns, you can take 8 more line inf than them and if you rush them from the start, they will probably rout 1 line max before you start shooting and once you do, you outnumber them 2 to 1 and have far better infantry as russian inf is piss poor. Also, most online players do not use russia, only the ones who are comletely incapable of issuing a single order during battle.

A Unicorn can easily destroy 2 line regiments and if you use it in support with infantry then the unicorns can destroy enemy infantry before it gets through the infantry. The crew does have low morale but if you cover the flanks then you basically have a WWII piece of artillery.

Are unicorns just howitzers or are there unicorn cannons as well?

Nah! They are an elite cavalry monting unicorns instead of horses. They have a charge bonus because of the Unicorn Also, do not forget the Pegasus unit

Unicorns are historical units, and they are the Russian equivalent of howitzers.

When I fight unicorns, I use lancers or hussars. When I see shells coming, I make them run to pretty much "dodge" the shot. If you can wither the canister at close range, you can pretty easily destroy a unicorn. It takes a lot of micro, but if you act fast before the unicorn can do much damage on your infantry, the unicorn is pretty much obsolete.
