MP campaign tips/experiences

Your first reaction will probably be "every player plays differently, so it's useless to give any general hints". but i really want to know some of your advices, cause i only completed one MP campaign, Austria in the italian campaign. and that wasnt hard, just create two big armies, and march on the regions france takes. I can imagine playing france must be hard, cause Sardinia doesn't become your protectorate and you don't get any missions

So if you guys got any advice for france in Italy, or for the other campaigns, i would be very glad to hear them

make protectorates. They spawn armies quickly, are always loyal, serve as buffer states, and give income to you. They can have two full armies from 1 province while you would only get the same from 5

Wel yeah that's something i already did in SP as Prussia. got United netherlands, belgium, Wurtmburg and switzerland as a protective belt (and gave alsac to wurtemburg).

But has anyone advice for the egyptian and italian campaign? Like said i already won an italian campaign as Austria which was easy. But now i started one as france, and it's pretty hard. every time sardinia makes peace, austria aks them to declare war the next turn. And i once started an egyptian campaign as the ottomans, but their units have pretty bad stats.

Italian....Basically rush piedmont smash them as fast as possible. Regroup then attack Austria before they can effectively deal with Venice.

Crushing venice is the first thing austria must do, otherwise they can't form forces to fight france. if your on thier doorstep before they've dealt with venice austria is in trouble.

i tend to disagree. When playing as austria i allied with venice. just build up the cities you got and train two stacks, then attack france. it was a walk in the park

I'm finally at the winning hand, in Italy, i get some lame-ass quitter Shame to say he is from the same country as me. With the pathetic excuse "austria hasn't got good units in this campaign". well no, but you have six cities which pump out units like H2O, while you use your alliance to let everyone delcare war on france....

Question: can you continue a campaign with another player than the original one?

nope sadly....another promised feature that was never delivered...

EDIT: yeah i got the one where you win italian campaign as france. lot's of autoresolve wth napoleon. In the end when he knows he was going to be defeated he disbanded his army so the game would be over quicker. Damn i'm happy

Make enough allies, trade partners and so on, but not as much as you can. Trying desperately to make every one of your numerous allies kept happy is financially draining.
So keep the right number of allies, also the right ones. A nice balance of minor and major nations, you never know when a minor nation might come in handy to rest your troops after a loss or retreat.
Also, I personally build up a very strong economy and develop pretty much everything rapidly, equally balancing the military, the industry, and the research sectors.
From a solid base economically strong, with the right allies in all the right strategic places, its almost impossible to lose, you can build wave after wave of armies (I got up to about 6 or 7 20-(strong) unit armies (though it wasn't really necessary in the end). By that point, so long as you are competent in battles, victory is usually assured.
IMO, the hardest part of the campaign is not particularly the end game-how you get there and what you choose to prioritise will ultimately affect whether you achieve success, the speed at which you reach the end game, and how comprehensively you win.

Something i noticed also in the Egypt campaign (i managed to play a few turns before i had to leave): The ottomans have pretty weak starting units. and have to do a lot of research first (about 20 turns), and then build the barracks. Also the best units Ottoman can train are only available in the upper north of the map (forgot the name). So the only thing you can do in the start is build roads, farms, mines etc... And bribe the berbers to declare war o france, cause egypt doesn't really gets in their way
France on the other hand has a very experienced starting army, making it almost elite troops. Do any people who have played as france know if the british invade sometimes like they do in the SP?

With ottomans....basically you must piece together a decent army. If you manage to ruin the french army via attrition/battles with mamalukes this won't really matter, but once your army is assembled you must beat the majority of french troops. If the "super" army is virtually destroyed France falls like a stack of cards.

Started a MP egypt campaign as france, and yes you just crush the egyptians. Also got 3 gentlemen, so my research is going very fast. My ottoman opponent sended a full stack to egypt, but with the experienced army of napoleon, the autoresolve was an absolute walk in the park. I also allied with the berbers, and made them declare war on egypt. Once egypt is defeated, i make them declare war on ottomans.

The british do land in egypt but with a small stack. But best is to keep a 1/2 stack there. the way i say it is that the best way for ottomans to win is to build up economy, and they just flood napoleons army, so they don't have time to replenish. Especially because there are nowhere ambush oppertunities, like in italy

Best way for france to win, and I hate this way because it ruins the game for me is: draw the Ottoman army south, send all your troops via boat along the coast, hop off, and take Damascus. This method really annoys me because my opponent can win while avoiding battle. The ottomans wouldn't have collapsed just because the french army had occupied a city behind them. IN FACT the french, now in hostile territory with no supply lines would be in deep . But people will do whatever they can to win :/
