    Default Name Editing

I think this goes here, move it if to the proper place if I was wrong please.

    Anyway here I go.

Ok so I am not the brightest guy when it comes to modding (read: Im a noob q_q) and I would like to ask you guys something.

How do I edit the names of the Romans in Stainless Steel 6.2 RR/RC 1450 campaign so that I can have Skantarios(doesn't feel right without him)? I have tried using the search function and have read many threads but I cannot seem to find what I am looking for, so in short, what do I have to edit to make this happen?

    Its very easy

Go to Medieval2/mods/StainlessSteel/data, and open descr_names.txt, search for the faction (byzantium now).
Add Skantarios to the right place, which is now "characters". (you can add to surnames too, if u want.)

Save the file, then go to /StainlessSteel/data/text, and open names.txt, and add this:
    {Skantarios}Skantarios

    Save it, then delete names.txt.strings.bin.

    Done

I see that I didn't explain enough, I want to edit the starting name of the faction heir in Mystras and make it Skantarios.

Oh ok. Just open descr_strat.txt in Medieval2/mods/StainlessSteel/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign, then search for this:

    Code:

    faction byzantium, trader napoleon
If you found it, go down to Mystras (its not Mystras at me, since version differs) :

    Code:

    character Ioannis Vatatzis, named character, male, heir, age 23, x 275, y 118, battle_model byzantine_heir
Change the red name to Skantarios

But I wanted to do it for the 1450 campaign >.>

and when I tried to edit the same thing in the 1450 section it makes it so I can't launch the campaign (it sends me back to the campaign selection phase).

    wat do q.q

Is it in the names.txt and descr_names.txt for the 1450 campaign?

Even if the name isnt in the lists the game puts a space for the name and doesnt go back to menu.

    That shouldn't happen
