    Default Speeding up zombies... How?

How do I speed up the movement speed of zombies? The way they are I am forced to relegate them to garrison duty and even then I find it hard to justify their use...

What files do I need to mod to increase their walk and run speed? I want to return their movemen speed to original. I tried to mod move_speed mod in EDU but it had very little effect that seemed to cap off after several tenths of a point was added.

You could make the number in the move_speed line higher to something like 1.5 or maybe even 2.0 to get them to the speed of humans, but they will never run the way you want, unless you do something a bit more complicated. You could replace the skeleton and animations the zombie uses with something like that of the Empire Swordsmen so they can run. That can be done in the "data/unit_models/battle_models.modeldb" file. All you have to do is this:

Change the "zombie" entry from this:

    Code:
    7 zombies

    68 unit_models/_Units/warhammer/Vampire/model/zombies/zombies_lod0.mesh 6400

This may work, but I'm not 100% sure. If you do decide to try this method, be sure to create backups of any and all files you modify so you won't have to reinstall the mod from scratch.
"The only question that remained was whether the founders knew the final result of their creation, or if they themselves where the victims of a misunderstanding.
In the latter case it was the duty of any thinking human, to press himself into the front of this depraved movement, to perhaps still prevent the extreme, in the former case the founders of this peoples disease must have been true devils; for only in the brain of a monster - not of a human - could the plan for an organisation take meaningfull form, whose purpose must lead toward the end result of a collapse of human culture and thus to the desolation of the world.
In this case only battle remained as a means of final delivery, battle with any weapons that the human mind, intellect and will are able to comprehend, regardless, of whom fate would gift with it's blessing."

Zombies are their own reason. What's not to like about a shambling horde of undead, slowly making its way towards your lines, hoping for a piece of your brain?
    Brains, brains, BRAAAAAAAAAINS...
You'll ruin all the fun if you make them fast.

I prefer them slow tbh. There's nothing like having 1000 zombies slowly moving forward towards the enemy lines acting as a screen as you position your ghosts and cavalry on the flank... They're still bloody useful!

Zombies rule, I admit that. I always loved them.

But their useless to me. They can't even engage a enemy at 100 meters before they relocate or devastat whatever unit they were fighting with. I'm trying Scipio's advice now.

Yeah they're useless. 1 on 1, that is. But the upkeep is 40 coins. Overrun the enemy with numbers. Make a *** huge horde of zombies man! Have fun
To tell you the truth, I rarely use them in serious battles. But that's just it. It's a game - not supposed to be serious

they need to be sped up to keep up with the rest of the army but not able to run. like halberdiers or pikemen in spearwall or something.

depends, sometimes running zombies make the brain catching all the scarier :p as dawn of the dead proved, and always watch out for the kenian sprinter zombie, he'll outrun you all! or make zombies have ridiculous health, because of the being dead no feeling pain...and being zombies, although when the dwarves get a repeating auto shotgun cannon, then the zombies should run the other way....i really want that cannon

I agree, zombies can have an arm torn apart for example and still fight. They will receive many wounds without affecting their fighting skills. They can get shot by arrows and still fight. They could have more hp representing this fact.

indeed, as a fervent zombie lover i though got to say, aim for the head :p but who doesnt want a huge banner full of zombies being led on you, and you shoot everything you got at em, and they just wont stop coming!

Zombies are resistant to misiles (excluding head shots). Maybe they could get additional protection against them, without making them to tough in melee, because in most zombie movies, they are weak in melee because the humans deal accurate head blows with bats, axes, etc. I don't know if this is plausible in the game.

actually, the thing in zobmie movies is NOT to get them in melee, maybe its being that the living are unarmoured pansies with guns, and not knightly morr guys slashing cause they can, maybe thats it, but just alot of hp will do it XD, since it is said some kind of greatsword chapter thing at hell fenn killed hordes of zombies with rightly aimed greatsword hits, thought it was them black guards, not sure
