    Default Cheapest Gaming Computer

What's the easiest way and cheapest way to get a good gaming computer? I just want a comp that can take gaming well, games like RTW, and BLitz 1941. Any suggestions?

You should build your own, it is cheaper, usually. Never buy Alienware, they are horribly over-priced.

Ok this is what I would pick for a cheap but decent gaming rig with some OC potential.
    Motherboard.
DFI nF4 Ultra-Infinity Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
    CPU
    AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice
    GPU
    eVGA 256-P2-N386-AX Geforce 6800GS 256MB
    Or
    Leadtek Geforce 7800GT 256MB
    RAM
    OCZ Value Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)

Plus a chassi of your liking, some nice SATA harddrives and a monitor.

I think he wants the cheapest gaming computer he can get, in that case a Athlon 64 3000+ and a Geforce 6800XT would be more enough to handle any games on the market right now. If you add hard drivers/cases/powersupplies/mobo...ect you would come to roughly $500. Not bad for a computer that can play all the games on the market right now on max settings.

This guy is looking for a cheap computer, and you people start suggesting 6800GS and the 7800gtx? that is nuts.

If you are comfortable with overclocking, then the suggested CPU is the Sempron 2800+. If not, I would attempt to pick up a Athlon XP 3000 from E-bay. The sempron is 80 bucks, and the Athlon XP would cost roughly the same.

For the ram, I would put in 1 gig of the cheapest junk I can find. That will run you about 70.

For the video card, I personally suggest the Geforce 6600 at about 100. Unless if you can actually tell the difference bewteen AA and AF, you won't notice the difference.

You will need a motherboard, at about 80 for the sempron, (pick up the cheapest epox that you can get your hands on) or about 50 for the Athlon XP.

Case is about 50 for one with a halfway decent PSU. (350 watts and up)
Hard drives will run you about 100 for a 200 gig. and the DVD rom weighs in at 20. Adds it all up and we are looking at 450 ish for the whole computer. Much cheaper then what everyone else is pushing.

I guess I was a bit carried away there. :original:

lee1026's suggestions are good, that's no doubt one of the best setups for a ultra budget rig.
Mine on the other hand requries a bit more cash but also gives you much better performance (obviously).

Alright, my pricing is slightly off, but those prices that I listed were true about 2 month ago.

Alright before any suggestions are made, you should give us a price range to work in. Cheap for some is not the same as cheap for others. Also you should know how long you want this computer to last, and whether or not you want to play future games with or without high quality settings.

Lee, no-one ever suggested the 7800 GTX. The 7800 GT was suggested though, or the GS.
