    Default Questions: Bodyguards, stripped titles

    1) I can recruit bodyguard units for 550. Is it just a "retrain" for generals/FM depleted bodyguards or is it something else?

    2) Is "stripped titles" trait triggered if I immediately put the title back after an accidental (i.e., d'oh!) swap? Also, is there anyway to counter this trait?

    1. It's recruiting new generals.

I thought that might be the case but I couldn't tell for sure from a forum and google search. Why does it allow you to click on the unit icon for a general or FM who is in the fortress? And why isn't it just called "General" instead of bodyguard? Seems a little like recruiting "goddesses" when you want to recruit Charlie Sheen.

    1) It's a general, like the ones some factions have in the beginning, just like a family member, and they can be adopted or get married to your princess

2)I don't think so, but it seems to be appearing more in 6.3 & 6.4 than it did before, yes it reduces loyalty, you could give the character a title that gives loyalty, although the stripped of titles trait dosen't seem to go away even if you give him new titles

2 - I've noticed that you can strip a general of a title at least once before the trait this given. When I've done it twice, either by mistake or intentionally, I'll notice the trait then pops up.

if you strip it and give it back the same turn i dont think it has any effect, also if a general has more than one title it wont effect him. If they have a title and end the turn without one it counts toward the stripped title trait, in my experience if you do that twice thats when they get the trait

the stripped title trigger is only when you press End Turn... then it is a percentage chance of acquiring it... I think that if you strip a general many times, a second trait might show that makes him even more disloyal...

Thanks. I like to concentrate titles and transferrable retinue in my Venetian Doge and a couple of the best generals/family members. The Doge gets the pick of the litter (10% or better tax/trade titles), and there's usually only enough left over for a secondary tax/trade administrator. The military buffs get divided up the same way.

As soon as buffed characters get to age 50, I strip titles/valuable retinue. If the game was coded to have titles pass by primogeniture to the various branches of the family tree that would be ideal, but alas, that's not the case. So I do it manually and end up with a bunch of grumpy old men, some of whom live for another 20 years after I strip their titles.

It's a small price to pay for a very nice mod feature (have I mentioned that SS 6.4 is awesome?).

But there are occasional FMs I strip of titles because they become disloyal, deep pockets, bad taxmen -- or just bat crazy. They tend to "go full Quixote" and ride or sail off into the sunset -- or into a line of brigand spearmen.
