Is it possible to assign a family tree to a general, and if so, how?
Well,
Say I have a faction 'Gigantid' with faction leader Gigantus and a general Bowden. the descr_strat entries would then be
Now, I want my character Bowden to have a spouse aswell, but to not show up at the faction family tree (he isnt in the family tree after all)Code:character Gigantus, named character, male, leader, age 40, x x1, y y1 character Bowden, named character, male, age 19, x x2, y y2 character_record Gigantus_Spouse, female, age 39, alive, never_a_leader relative Gigantus, Gigantus_Spouse, end
Sorry, the game doesn't allow married characters that are not in the family tree. You could obviously try by creating a Bowden_spouse and make a "relative" entry. If you place it under my 'relative' entry it will most likely not appear. Whether it will allow for children is highly questionable as again they are not supposed to be in the family tree.

I'll have a go later on. I'll get back to this. Thanks so far.
I had an error that may help you here. My faction had the FL without adult children and some none-family generals, no heir set in descr_strat.txt. On game start it logged an error because there was no heir set, but one of the generals became the heir and got marriage offers and so on. His family did not appear in the family tree page, but he even had children. Once the first FL died his family tree got deleted and the page showed the tree of the former heir.
Thanks for the heads up.
That is exactly what I aim to achieve, but pre-set (from the start of the campaign).
I do have to tell you though, that non-adult children can be set "current_heir" through the descr_strat file (again, from the beginning of the cmapaign)
I wonder if it cna be pre-set.
It looks to me like a kind of 'stand by' family tree, disconnected from the prime (faction leader) tree. Certainly worth a try if this works from the onset too. Having a Methusalem as faction leader with a dead wife and 4 dead children should be the perfect jump off to test if a second family tree will come into play.
This sunday or next week.
It is possible! I changed my campaign in a way that at start the King is like 55, has no children and no wife!
The Faction Heir is married!
After the King ( his family tree consists of his image only ) dies, a new family tree pops up with my former heir on top, his wife and children are alive and healthy!
I found this out by simply removing all relative related stuff from desc_strat => Faction Leader is not related to the Heir. result is there are 2 seperate families/family-trees.
Thread moved from Misc to Text editing & scripting section.
Yes it's possible, that is a faction having more than one family tree but only one of them will show at a time, the other ones wont show up unless a member of one of those families becomes a faction leader.![]()
