    Thanks, Los - I just simply ignored the battle and continued playing. It has worked so far... I know I am being needy and all sorts of unseemly but how does one make permanent castle/forts? Is there an add-on for that, for SS6.4? The concept for fortifying a specific location just makes me happy.

    Any advise, concerns or suggestions? Just curious.

    PSF or Permanent settlement forts can be incorporated by using Roz's PSU mod.

    Thanks for the help, friends. Fantastic, thanks so much Ishan. Ishan have you heard of a glitch where the computer will automatically auto-resolve siege battles? I really need to defend the settlements myself. Please... I just lost the city of Jerusalem. I cannot express into words how disappointed I am. Of all the cities... Just unacceptable.

    Are you playing in hotseat mode? As you can disable that in it but in single player game this shouldn't happen.

    I am playing in hotseat mode, yes. How do I disable that?

    Put this command in red in your default.cfg file of your SS mod:-
    Code:
    [multiplayer]
    hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
    If it's already there then change 1 to 0.

    I know how this sounds... but, Ishan, WHERE do I find this file? I cannot seem to find it. Is it in a specific folder or something?

    The siege battles are still being auto-calculated. Edessa is now gone. :-/

    There has to be a way to logically explain what I need to do. I know I have to alter the default.cfg file (which I am not entirely sure how to do) - I just copy and pasted "hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0" to the end of the file. I have a feeling that there was more to it then that. The default/file, I opened as a note document, as it wouldn't open any other way. I suppose the good news is the game didn't crash and it seems to be operating normally but without ANY change to auto-calc. I urge you to remember I am a layman when it comes to code and computers and such, so please... feel free to indulge me by speaking to me like a child. Suffice to say, I'll probably not understand you otherwise.

    Thanks again.

    default.cfg file is in the main SS6.3 folder. Open this file with notepad. Then put this:-
    Code:
    [multiplayer]
    hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
    ^Check in that file whether the blue part exists or not if it doesn't then put the whole code if the blue part exists then under it put the red part only.
    If both of them already exists then make sure you set the 1 to 0 in the red line.

    Thank you, Ishan. I've done as you've suggested. How do I change the color of the text in a notepad document? Is it still necessary to do so?

    It wasn't in there at all. I copied and pasted and now it is. Right at the bottom right?

    Hehe the colors in my post is to explain things without typing a lot.
    And no, colors have no significance, i use it just for explaining things.
    Do what i told you and confirm it in game please.

    Yes, I've done as you've suggested. Now I reload a past save and try to defend Edessa, for example. The battle just auto-calcs. This time I happened to win and barely lost any men but it still was an auto-calc.

    Can you post your .cfg file here in the next post as an attachment in a zip file?
    I'll set it up for your use.

    I'm not sure how to zip a file. And I think I just found out how to attach something to a reply.

    I did copy and paste the default file however; will that help?

    To be able to defend (and fight the defensive battles in hotseat) you need to disable scrolls. Have a look at Hotseat & Multiplayer FAQ
    It wasn't updated for 6.4 yet but what worked for 6.3 will work for 6.4 so adding the lines
    [hotseat]
    ## disable start turn scroll in hotseat campaign - false or 0 needed to be able to defend against AI
    scroll = false
    ## disable forced separate human faction turns (including diplomacy) in hotseat campaign
    turns = false
    ## enable cheat console in hotseat campaign
    disable_console = false
    ## enable camera updates during ai turn in hotseat campaign
    update_ai_camera = true
    ## enable or disable voting in papal elections in hotseat campaign (only first valid human faction votes)
    disable_papal_elections = false
    ## disable forced autoresolve all battles in hotseat campaign
    autoresolve_battles = false
    ## disable diplomacy validation for incoming propositions
    validate_diplomacy = false
    ## disable forced relevant hotseat options to be saved with game.
    # save_prefs = false
    ## autosave hotseat game at start of players turn
    #autosave = true
    ## save config file in save dir containing information about next players turn
    # save_config = true
    ## close medieval II directly after a hotseat autosave
    # close_after_save = true
    ## sub directory name for hotseat save games
    # gamename = hotseat_gamename
    ## ensure game data files used in previous save match current campaign data files.
    # validate_data = true
    ## prevent game to load if savegame or data validations fail
    # allow_validation_failures = false
    and starting a new hotseat campaign will allow you to play defensive battles. Hope this resolves your issue.

    To be honest; I have no idea what that means. But are you saying if I simply start a NEW hotseat with the other players, then the auto-calc feature will be turned off?

    add the first line from his quote...the scroll=false to your hotseat cfg.
