Faustus smiled at the man and passed him and took his seat. The air in the senate was obviously tense, that could be sensed. Faustus eyed the man and recognized him to be the Tribune. Inside his head, Faustus was imaging the reasons that the Tribune could be standing at the door and finally the one which made the most sense and the one that made him laugh was that the Tribune was insane.

    Gerges laughed heartily,

The knowledge I have applied to the slave trade is one that can be applied to any merchants trade, it is no specialist knowledge. If too many fish are caught the market swells, merchants must lower their prices in order to compete with each other. The same occurs with slaves. That you cannot work this out only further shows me the depths to which your mind has sunk.

    He then turned to Scaurus,

No Spurius, the people cannot know what a plight the position of Tribune they would lose faith and I hoped I proved in my past terms in office that the power can be wielded responsibly for the good of the Republic. Instead, I would watch with this house as the Tribune slowly destroys himself with baseless accusations and foolish manoeuvres. He will crush himself, he will violate his own sacrosanct person. Gerges smirked at the Censor.

Tribune, you dare impede the progress of the body of politics and law enforcement? Must I remind you again that elections must be held soon. I retract my statement on the suspension of elections. Your actions are now that of one opposed to the Roman state. Hindering election, tribune, is a serious offence. Either step aside, or be declared an enemy to the state.

"If that is the tribune...the tribune of the people...he must be dismissed!" Faustus rose from the seat he had just taken and blurted out towards the Tribune. "Impeding this Senate is directly defying the will of the people who ask us to represent Rome!"

Kaeso listened to the censors remarks about him and he listened to his brother words to him also. both of them appear to be on the same side and that was not good. How could they support a Dictator who is going to bring this Republic to its knees. How could they support someone that raped woman and looted temples to the gods. No the Tribune is right to veto the motion. He would give the man more money

Kaeso stood up" Tribune you have earned yourself more money for your actions. You are doing this republic a Favor by vetoing what you did. This Republic does not need any Dictators or Consuls who would abuse their power and have more towns looted and woman raped. Tribune I will also Talk on your behalf to the plebs and have you Re elected to your position. You are a good Tribune and Rome needs people like yourself

As For my brother and the Censor. Your lies make me want to puke. Father always wanted me to get the Money. But he knew that it would not be fair if he gave it all to me. So brother the money is split between the both of us and I will use it anyway I feel is good for the republic. And i see we have a new member of the senate. Well welcome new Senator. Please have a seat "

Kaeso listened to the Consul and laughed " Consul is more a Enemy of the state then yourself ?. After all you are the one that had people swear loyalty to yourself then to the Republic . I believe that is called Treason as you have betrayed the republic by your actions. Besides you are not innocent yourself. Allowing your men to Rape woman and loot temples. Ha ! that should be a crime in itself. But that is not for me to decide. That is only my opinion. The Tribune is doing nothing wrong Consul. And how may i ask is he hindering Elections ? "

Kaseo sat down and smiled once again

"Senator Kaeso, by being the Tribune he is to stand against the Patrician influence within the Senate...the Patrician influence which has harmed the people so dangerously in the past." Faustus remained standing. "Indeed he is doing well within what he has the right to do, veto any action of any magistrate he sees fit...however...attempting to halt elections by standing in front of the door...refusing to end the Consulate. At least...that is how I understand it to look."

Gerges sneered from the side of the Censor and Consul, And who is fool enough to trust the slurred words of the man who brings wine into the Curia? Perhaps Senator you should go home, get some sleep, awake and douse your head in cold water and come back here with a clear mind.

You throw money at a madman. It will please your brother I am sure to watch you squander your father's money on this fallen Tribune who will never find power in the Senate for as long as he lives. Those of sound mind and good heart will ensure that make no mistake. Throw in your lot with him and the same might very well be said of you...

If I move a Snake becomes a bloody dictator, a cutthroat Merchant is judge of Public morals and a Traitor to his people and friends becomes Tribune,if I must die to stop that so be it.

The sun may go down soon though...

    No, I'm doomed either way.

"Tribune. The people vote for Tribune, any plebeian will see what harm, that you claim, these men have caused. Do not lose faith in the people...they are our strongest bastion against tyranny." Faustus moved toward the Tribune, stepping away from the stone seats.

Enough Kaeso, there will be no more bribes so overtly in the senate halls.
Aulus, you are very popular it seems, you have two men wanting you as a pet. You sit there, waitingfor your master, Poplicola, like the dog you are. I will not continue to speak my true mind as I am Censor, so move before something more unbecoming than death happens to you.

Pallas had denied any claim to the Dictatorship he seeks only what is good for Rome and has proven himself a just servant of the Republic.

There is no evidence that myself nor Spurius are involved in the slave trade, your continued allegations only make you more of a laughing stock.

As to myself, when I seek the best for the Republic through supporting Pallas I protect and support this noble city. It is more than can be said of one who obstructs its practices, yet another Tribune who will not rest down his power, is there truly no hope for this office? Am I the only one who can possibly wield the powers justly for the people? Senators do not look on this man as an example of the Tribunate, look at him for what he is, a power hungry fool. He gave away his Patrician birthright purely to wield the powers of that noble office that he stains with his actions. How does he help the people? He goes against the laws of Rome and prescribed in the Twelve Tables and accepted by every citizen of the Republic.

Faustus turned towards the Praetor. "I would not say the only one who could justly wield that power, for I am a plebeian as well." Faustus paused in walking slowly towards the tribune.

In an instant a gladius came down on Spurius' right hand. The slice severed the hand clean off and Lucius kicked the dismembered part towards the feet of Pallas and Gerges.

*Spurius wails, realing backwards into the arms of nearby senators. Arcs of blood stain white clothe red, while a few brave men attempt to stem the flow. All eyes are now on the consul and the tribune.*

None shall violate the sacrosanct nature of the office of tribune without consequences.

Lucius stood next to the tribune, now covered in blood in his armor with his gladius in his hands with lictors flanking him and in the hallway.

Faustus turned to the Tribune and was about to speak "Tribune, I w..." Faustus turned his attention to the Censor wailing about being slashed from a Senator. "By the gods! What have we become!"
