    Intel Pentium 4 640 3.20ghz 16kb

Or should i update to a
    Intel core i5 750 2.66ghz 8mb

I know what i need to do to upgrade but i want to make sure if its worth wild.
I want NTW to at least run on high settings with a decent frame rate(20-30 or better).
I know i have to get a new Mobo and new ram. And maybe a new Gpu.

    Thanks for any Input.

    What GPU do you have?

My fave in the i5's is the 760 but what the heck. With the right Gcard the i5 has more than enough grunt to run NTW fully loaded.

Processor isn't the main issue. GPU and DirectX is. If your OS supports DX 10 then the Gpu should run the game fine thanks to the 1 GB of memory. You will have to sacrifice some settings.

I ran ETW for a year with an old dual core and a 500 MB 8600 GTS on medium settings under XP.

But if you want all the bling turned on with ultra settings in high res then you must upgrade. Parts are cheap (where I am anyway). Probably worth it.

    Wait no stop!

The pentium 4 is a single core hyperthreader processor! That will not run the game well at all. Get a new one and get a new gpu. Basicly get a new pc. Your going to need an upgraded power supply and cooling too most likely.

Would these specs work for NTW on high steetings with decent FPS.

    • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-760 2.80 GHz 8M Intel Smart Cache LGA1156
    • HDD: 500GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Hard Drive)
    • MEMORY: 4GB (2GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Module (Kingston HyperX)
    • MOTHERBOARD: [CrossFireX] Asus P7P55 LX Intel P55 Chipset DDR3 LGA1156 ATX Mainboard w/ 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, USB2.0, SATA-II, RAID, 2 Gen2 PCIe, 2 PCIe X1, & 3 PCI
    • SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO
    • VIDEO: ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR2 16X PCIe Video Card (Major Brand Powered by ATI)

Its 600$ but is it better than what i got?
I appreciate all of your input.

    $hi#loads better!

If I could tweak a few suggestions, I'd ask them to dump the Crossfire board with a whole heap of crap you don't need, and put in an Asus board with SATA 3 support. I was dubious at first, but my SATA 3 HDD is freakin' fast! If they're going to go with Kingston Hyper X might as well go to 6 GB or 8 of RAM (with Win7) for bugger all extra. Probably get a bit quicker too. 500 GB drives cost about the same as 1 TB. GPU is getting a bit old now and again, not much more to lift it up.

But overall, in comparison to what you've currently described, the above system is in a whole new league.

PS: I'm a big fan of the i5 760. A real good processor in a nice price sweet spot and can take a pretty good overclock with the generic cooler to boot.
