    Default slow battles

well i have a problem for some reason my computer is slow in battles with more than 2000 men and the campaign map when i load it seems pretty slow
wat can i do to solve this problems ?? (i have already the graphics all to low, just the unit size is in Huge

i have played mods like BC, SS the battles are not so slow, so maybe its a problem of my computer anyway any ideas ?

This may be because I've set the units to switch to a lower level when you zoom out to a higher value than BC and SS. BC and SS use 121 for their first level zoom out and 6400 for their max while I use 2500 and 10000.

I'd recommend changing the unit size from huge to a lower level.

What are these values - 121, 6400, 2500? Number of polygons?
Is there a way to optimise graphics without lowering the number of men on the battlefield? Even CA's last game Shogun 2 isn't so laggy as your mod.

Well, because this game is not supposed to work this way, with such high details.
To lower it down without giving away huge units, simply change those values in battle_models.modeldb Unanime5 talked about.

    example :
    69 unit_models/_Units/magyar_gyalogos/magy_halberd_militia_ug0_lod0.mesh 2500
    69 unit_models/_Units/magyar_gyalogos/magy_halberd_militia_ug0_lod1.mesh 6400
    69 unit_models/_Units/magyar_gyalogos/magy_halberd_militia_ug0_lod2.mesh 10000

first one is the heavier model (ie with full detail) and it lowers at each line. After the longer distance (in this case magy_halberd_militia_ug0_lod2.mesh), it switch to unit sprites.

Many units are lacking sprites, but it's neither hard or complex to do it (cf : Sprite generation tutorial ).

In this post I released a modified version of the battle_models.modeldb for the 2.3.1 patch. This should reduce the lag.

Captains and general don't have sprites because in the vanilla M2TW they don't use sprites. Some officers also don't use sprites.
