Default Really Basic-Mods are Installed WHERE?

Coming back to M2TW after a long absence and seem to have done a complete brain dump of whatever I used to know and I'm having a problem installing mods.

Typically, does one install mods over the basic files or does one install it into a folder under mods?

    Thx

There are some mods which are modfoldered and the installer will make a folder for itself in Medieval2/mods (Kingdoms mods), or just in Medieval2 folder(M2TW mods). They wont modify any of your vanilla files.

But there are some mods which arent modfoldered, they will overwrite some of your files in Medieval2 and its subfolders.

    And welcome back !

Thanks for the welcome back. I had forgotten how great this 'game' is. I spent all day yesterday struggling with install and mod issues, think I now have a clean install with the correct patch v1.5 installed, who'd have thought there was a patch v1.5 and a patch GOLD v1.5 - sigh, finally. Seems cleaning out the registry is also a good idea when reinstalling - scary.

Hope to be off conquering the world shortly.

Clean registry with CCleaner it's a free program and perfectly safe.
