Default The Royal Family Has Aids.

Here's a hillarious bug which may end my campaign in time. Everytime I accept a new member into the family, whether by marrying into or adoption....he dies. If a captain gets a chance to promote to royalty... he dies. There's gotta be some disgruntled eunuch in the harem or something

Anyone else see this? I think it may be because of cheating?

    OR...

I switched the general's unit mid-campaign from horse archers to lancers. Maybe I did this wrong and generals are showing up with 0 units and thus auto-dying?

Actually I've determined that's the reason. I'm assuming it's not so simple as copy pasting lancers into a general's field in edu and changing their voice to general. I've searched google, twc wiki, and this website but couldn't find anything. I've read other people changing HA to Lancers for BG here, anyone care to help a fellow out?

    -Gracias

that person was probably me, changing a generals guard from one type to another is not easy but neither is it difficult. Compare your horse archer bodyguard to a lancer bodyguard and mimic it carefully... not so much the stats but everything else.
Well apart from the horse type that is, for georgia I chose their elite lancer unit (model has armoured horse unlike the monaspa lancers). I think if you choose a model unavailable to your faction it will fail. If you choose the abbasid bodyguard model for instance

"If a captain gets a chance to promote to royalty... he dies."

that happened to me in Vannila quite a lot but its has never happened with mods. I think the basic thing is, if you have more regions than characters you get the man of the hour for spectactually winning when outnumbered [or using auto_win attacker/defender].

This can sometimes happen if you have an equal or greater amount of characters compared to regions, if so the "man of the hour" will die. Changing the bodyguard of a general should have no effect whatsoever.

I think thats how it works? Please say if I'm wrong ^-^

Vaynakh's problem has its source in improperly modified EDU.

IIRC, you have to assign "general_unit" attribute to an unit that you want to be a bodyguard unit. Otherwise each time there is an adoption, or general coming of age, appearing character will die.

Yep, seems I missed a line or a character somewhere. Just gotta be careful.

Does your general bodyguard unit EDU entry have general_unit in the attributes?
