Either he get's 'of Genoese Blood' or 'Genoese Relations'.

    Are you Genoa?

If yes, then yes. But I don't think you can have anything but the "Genoese Relations" if you're anything but Genoa.

For instance I'm Novgorod. If I have an adopted family member and marry him to one of my Princesses, the children will have Novgorodian Blood. But if I marry him to a Kievan Rus princess, the children will only have Kievan Rus Relations rather than Kievan Rus Blood.

You can definitely get the "of blood" trait of another faction if you have your princess marry a foreigner general.

I had one of my (french) princesses marry an imperial general, and the sons have both "of french blood" and "of german blood" traits.

    Look this:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Here you can see that my Roman Emperor has of Greek Blood. His line is: Emperor Alexius I --> Emperor John II --> Emperor Efarestos I --> Emperor Enrikos I (him). Therefore, it is logical that he would have this trait. There you can see that he got both 'Novgorodian Relations' and 'Norwegian Relations'. Since Alexius is already married to Irene Doukaina in the start of the campaign, I couldn't marry him to a foreign princess. However, John II was married to a princess of Novgorod and Efarestos married a Norwegian princess.

Another case: John II's daughter, Olympia Komnena, was able to get me a German general, Sifirid von Hohenstaufen (I'd love to have a line in my Roman campaign with the name of Hohenstaufen. Sadly, it's not possible ). Their son got of German Blood trait and of Greek Blood. So, I think that in your case the son will get of Genoese Blood (unless the princess wasn't 'pure-blood').

PS: if anyone want to see the full story of this campaign, please go here and then here.

You can get the "of blood" traits if you, for instance, steal a family member from an opposing faction with a princess. Only your princesses pass on the "of blood" trait, foreign princesses married to your guys only produce "relations" traits.

Actually if the general is a foreigner, the offspring will lose his name, and will have a generic surname from your faction. They will get the "Of blood" trait though.
