    Default Eastern faction to play

tried out Parthia and Armenia liked them both, just wondering out of those two, Scythia and Sarmatia, which faction would you recommend ?

Those two campaigns are so different. Scythia has a nice roster and a mix of troops. Sarmatia on the other hand is very poor country and their roster is rather poor, atleast infantrywise.
I've done 3 campaigns with sarmatia. U are pretty safe out there in the steppes, but u are very poor. If u take hold of the black sea fromt the greeks and scythians, then u start getting some money and bosporan infantry too to get u some good infantry.
If u go all out HA army, it gets boring quite soon. Good mercs give u a nice mix.

Scythian campaign is more traditional. Nice mix of greek-barbarian units, very strong.

I'd say try Sarmatia. I say because it's different from others.
I like special factions like Cimbri, Gallaeci, Parthia and Sarmatia.

Haven't played either Scythia or Sarmatia, but I have played Armenia, and they are by far one of my favorites in this mod. Nakharars and other great infantry, very good archers, and access to all kinds of great cavalry as well. The only thing they lack is phalanxes and as your looking for an eastern faction that's not much of a loss. They also have a good starting position that gies them decent starting wealth, plenty of expansion opportunities, and a variety of potential enemies to fight.

I'd reccomend Scythia for the simple fact that they have good infantry and excellent cavalry.

Well, I played with both of them.
Scythia: You earn more money than with Sarmatia, but you also will have to fight against Dacia, Macedon and Sarmatia simultaneously at a point of your campaign (except if you destroy one front really fast), but you have more infantry to counter those attacks.
Sarmatia: The strongest missile cavalry faction in the game (in my opinion), but infantry is rather poor and you have lots of trouble earning money at the beginning of the game, when you only own steppes settlements. Later you can try taking the Bosporan settlements (Cherssonnesos, Panthikapaion) from the Greeks and the cities around the Black Sea from the Rebels and then you finally get a far better income than at the beginning!
It's up to you to choose, but I prefered the Scythians, because I'm better using infantry (and they have some units which are close to the Greek hoplites), but Sarmatia was also nice! Although I prefer infantry and am better at using it, the Scythian campaign was more difficult because Dacia, Macedonia, Sarmatia AND Greeks decided to attack me... but I liked that challenge
