In my opinion yellow-red is most sutable.
I agree, but green looks nice with yellow

No- black looks nice with yellow (black and yellow ) !
Usually, green looks best with yellow, but in terms of history, red-gold would be most accurate indeed (or, if really there's no way that could be implemented - then black-gold or black-silver).
from what i saw serbia is yellow, Byzantines are red and purple so theese colors are not available. That;s why I suggested green

Always the same.... The flag of Dushan was not a yellow with red eagle. You think of a map of Angelino Dulcert illustrating capitol of Serbian Empire Scopia ( today Skoplje in FYR of Makedonija ) Attachment 152351 using red inc on pergament ( it's yellow ).
This is a flag o Medieval Serbia:Attachment 152352
This is a COA:Attachment 152353The color of eagle is presumed silver by heraldist, but Urlrich Richental in 1415. present COA of Despot Stefan Lazarević as golden eagle with pair of bulls horns on red shield ( what i think is most reliable source ). Check your self:Attachment 152358
Don't mix coa of family with state flag. Dusan's flag was in fact yellow with red eagle. Royal Coa is other thing. Austrian duchy was ruled by habsburgs, and still, their flag was red and white. Later on it became as habsburg royal coa by naming state the habsburg empire. Dusan was not a man of tradition, but of proffesion. Yellow flag is almost 100% right cause dusan took many byz customs, royal titles, and named himself emperors of romans too. And most likely if he had succeded taking constantinopole, there would be no serbians, cause he already started romanizing serbs, he was sure that he was succesor of roman throne. Considering this, it's no wonder that he took yellow flag. During his rule, serbia gone through radical changes. Real serbian flag was red with blue, before dusan. One is still alive, but kept within some manastery

ok, i found it. i read this. sorry, dusan's flag is kept in hilandar. one more clue
there is monthly serbian magazine "istorija" (history). i found this interesting article about serbian flag.
there was a ragusian text from 1281. which says that flag was red and blue with no more description. well, they put whole description of flag, but i don't know where they found it. anyways, here's the translation and replica of it.
"red color represents defense of freedom, and blue defense of justice. Red-blue cross on flag represents symbol of lord's holy cross. Cross is symbol of birth and death. Red and blue are the oldest color in serbian history. In the center of the cross is circle with christ monogram IC XC and greek word NIKA. Four crosses represents four evangelists john, luke, mark and matthew"
replica
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
and for the tsardom's flag:
"second flag of serbia was flag of Tsar Dushan, but because of time passing, it became green. in the middle of the flag there is two-headed eagle. this flag is kept in hilandar"
well, they didn't put what was the real color. by ragusian text and Angelino Dulcer (there are also ragusian texts with description as yellow) we can say it was yellow
