Re: map.rwm?
The map.rwm file is created from other txt files if it is not present when you start a campaign or load a save game.
Sometimes the file can become corrupted and deleting it is one of the first things to do when you encounter a CTD in-game.
As the file is created from other txt files it's perfectly safe to delete it.
This is usually done manually by finding the relevant map.rwm and deleting it. The Launcher has this option to make things easier for you.
I did see a RTW campaign many years ago where for some reason some settlements had the wrong name. By deleting the map.rwm file the campaign was able to be continued. Not all problems look like that though.
If there has been a patch that causes a change to the campaign map then the map.rwm file has to be deleted prior to running the game.
