    Default Modding Range

when you change the range of any ranged unit to something high like 700, even if it is an onager you are modding it has no effect on the range. does anyone know how to change this?

I beleive there is a limit of about 300 or so. I'm not sure what the exact limit is, but I am pretty sure there is a limit on how far you can extend the range of any ranged weapon.

Range determines the "targeting range" maximum of the unit and you won't be allowed to target past that (except in some very specific circumstances.) The actual range is set by the velocity based on something similar to the physics vacuum range equation. Velocity for the round can be found in descr_projectile_new.txt. If you set the range to some high value you won't see much effect on low velocity rounds. However, you will see more range available on higher velocity rounds.
